Thethrustreverser(T/R)systemcontrolsthedirectionofthefanairexhausttomakeforwardorreversethrust.

Thethrustreverser(T/R)systemhasaleftandrighthalfthathingestotheenginestrut.

WhentheT/Rtranslatingsleevesareintheforward(stowed)position,theLPcompressoroutletair(fanair)goesthroughthebypassductandoutattherearofthefanduct.

WhentheT/Rsleevesmovetotheaft(deployed)position,draglinksattachedtotheblockerdoorsmovetheblockerdoorsintothebypassduct.

Thismakestheairflowgothroughthecascadesegments

Segmentsareuncoveredbytheaftmovementofthetranslatingsleeves.

Thecascadesegmentsturnthefanairinaforwarddirectiontoproducereversethrust.

StudentNotes

Thethrustreverserhalvesweigh1610lbs.(600.9kg)each.

Specialgroundequipmentfixturesareusedtoremoveandreplace.Thetranslatingsleevesaredeployedandstowedbythehydraulic
