Togiveorreceive,toofferorsolicitinformationonanyquizorexamination.AcademicIntegrityandGrievancePolicy Plagiarism:Toadoptandreproduceasone’sown,toappropriateforone’sownuseandincorporateinone’sownworkwithoutacknowledgement,theideasofothersorpassagesfromtheirwritingsandworks.AcademicIntegrityandGrievancePolicy Collusion:Toobtainfromanotherparty,withoutspecificapprovalinadvancebytheprofessor,assistanceintheproductionofworkofferedforcredit.AcademicIntegrityandGrievancePolicy Duplicity:Toofferforcreditidenticalorsubstantiallyunchangedworkintwoormorecourses,withoutspecificadvanceapprovaloftheprofessorsinvolved.AcademicIntegrityandGrievancePolicy

TheAcademicIntegrityandGrievanceCommittee(AIGC)hearsspecificgradeappealsandhears,onappealandreferral,casesinvolvingcertainallegedacademicoffenses.StepsTowardRedressforAcademicOffensesInformalStepCommunicatetothestudentthatyoususpectacademicdishonesty.Thisisaninformalstepthatyoucantaketoinvestigateyoursuspicion.Ifyouareconvincedthataviolationhastakenplaceafteryourdiscussionwiththestudent,youmustfollowthenextsteps.StepsTowardRedressforAcademicOffensesStep1CompletetheAllegationofAcademicOffenseFormBycompletingthisformyouareofficiallynotifyingthestudent,departmentchair,anddeanofstudentsofthecharge.Youarealsoassuringthatthestudentwillreceivehis/herrightofdueprocess.Theformmustbedeliveredbymailorinperson.StepsTowardRedressforAcademicOffensesStep2Scheduleaconferencewiththestudent

Highlightthefactthatthestudentonlyhasthreeclassdaystoscheduletheconference.Thegradepenaltyisautomaticallyappliedifthestudentdoesnotmeetwithyou.Regardlessoftheoutcomeofthisconference,thefacultymembermustnotifythedeanofstudentsoftheresults.StepsTowardRedressforAcademicOffensesStep3Withinsixclassdaysofbeingnotifiedofthecharge,thestudentshouldscheduleameetingwiththedeanofstudents/designeetodiscusshis/herdueprocessrightsandaddresstheallegations.Ifthestudentadmitstoaviolation,asanctionisimposedandanygradepenaltystands.StepsTowardRedressforAcademicOffensesStep4Ifthestudentdeniesacademicmisconduct,he/shemayappealtotheAcademicIntegrityandGrievanceCommitteewithintendaysofreceiptoftheAcademicOffenseAllegationReportForm.Failuretoappealwithintendayswillresultinimpositionofthegradepenaltyand/ordisciplinaryactionandwaiveroftherighttoappeal.StepsTowardRedressforAcademicOffensesStep5ThechairpersonoftheAcademicIntegrityandGrievanceCommitteewillconvenethecommitteeforahearing.

StepsTowardRedressforAcademicOffenses(ImportantPoints)GradePenaltiesOnlyfacultymembersmayimposeagradepenalty.Gradepenaltiesforconsideration:AgradeofFinthecourseAgradeofFontheexamination,project,etc.AgradeadjustmentNocreditformaterialpresentedStepsTowardRedressforAcademicOffenses(ImportantPoints)Incaseswherethestudentacceptsresponsibilityandtheoffensewarrantsaseverepenaltysuchasexpulsionorsuspension.TheDeanofStudentsmustreferthecasewithinthree(3)classdaystothechairpersonofAIGC.StepsTowardRedressforAcademicOffenses(ImportantPoints) Inacasewherethestudentmaintainsapleaofnotresponsible.TheDeanofStudentswillreviewthespecificchargeandevidencewiththestudent,thestudent’srightsandprivileges,appealsprocedures,operatingpoliciesoftheAIGC.Afterthisreview,ifthestudentmaintainsthepleaofnotresponsible,theDeanofStudentswilloffertoassistthestudentinwritingastatementofappeal.StepsTowardRedressforAcademicOffenses(ImportantPoints)Thestudenthastherighttoattendclassesuntiltheappealisresolved.Thestudentmaynotwithdrawfromacoursewhileanallegationofacademicdishonestyinthatcourseisbeingadjudicated.Ifthestudentwithdrawsfromacourseafterreceivingnotificationofanallegationofacademicdishonesty,thestudentwillbereinstated,pendingfinaladjudicationoftheallegation.Attheconclusionoftheadjudicationprocess:Ifacademicdishonestyisfound,andagradeof"F"inthecoursei
