teamsaysifZEMisdrivenabout32,000kilometers,itcanremove2kilogramsofcarbondioxide
fromtheair.Thafsnotahugeamount.Theteamcalculatesthat10ZEMcarsontheroadfora
yearwouldremoveasmuchcarbondioxideasatypicaltreedoesduringthattime.However,they
alsopointoutthatthereareoverabillionpassengercarsintheworldthatcouldbeusingthis
technology.Andifabillioncarswereremovingcarbondioxideinsteadofproducingit,theresult
wouldbehuge.
ZEMalsohasseveralotherinnovationsthathelptomakeitmorecapableofbeingsustained:
thecar'sframeandpanels(面板)are3Dprintedtoreducewaste;itwasbuiltusingrecycledand
recyclablematerials;anditcanbeeasilytakenapartsothatmanyofitspartscanbereused.
ZEM'sbatteryisalsoreusable,andhasanotherhandyfeature:itcanbechargedwithsolarpanels
onthecar'sroof-andcanevenbeusedtoprovidepowertoyourhousewhenthecarisn'tonthe

Accordingtothestatistics,transportationwasresponsibleforover20%ofglobalcarbon
