what'sthesenseoflearningEnglishgrammar?Infact,English

grammarhasalwaysbeenabigheadachetome.

Englishgrammarisverycomplicatedbecause,unlikeChinese,

therearemanyverbtenses.Evenstrangerthanverbtenses,

Englishgrammaralsocontainssomethingveryconfusing.For

example,Idon'trememberhowmanytimesmymiddleschool

teachertriedto"impose"thedifferencesbetweenusedto

andbeusedtoonus.Sometimeshewouldgoonwiththe

explanationfor20minutesorso.Heevensummarizedthe

differencesbylistingthreeorfourpointsforustomemorize.

However,theycouldneverstayinmyhead.Idon'tremember

howmanytimesIgotitwrongwiththesentencescontaining

usedtoorbeusedtoonmyexams.Iwasreallyconfusedwith

thesetwophrases,andIcannevergetthemright.

andchildrencanbewellobservedintheircompletelydifferent

Parentsalwayswonderwhathasgonewrongwiththenew

generation.Theyfeelthatduringtheirtime,youngboysandgirls

werebetterbehaved,moreobedientandhadgreaterrespectfor

elders.Youngpeople,ontheotherhand,feelthattheyare

capableenoughtolearnontheirownratherthanleanheavilyon

theoldergenerationforguidance.Youngpeopledonotliketo

bespoon-fedbytheirparents.

Thedifferencesalsoappearinthewaythetwogenerations

lookatthings.Forexample,theparents'generationnever

understoodElvisandtheBeatles.Becausetheycouldn7t

understandwhatwasgoingon,theywerefrequentlyopposedto

themandsawrockas"thedevil'smusic".Youngpeople,

however,arecrazyaboutthemodernmusicandwouldloveto

listentoitforahundredtimesaday.Wherevertheygo,they'II

Inconclusion,itsverydifficultforparentsandtheir

youngsterstogetalongduetotheirdistinctiveattitudesandthe

waytheyviewthings.Tofillthisgap,bothparentsandtheir

Frequently,studentsexperienceatoughtimeandarefaced

withanactivitybeyondtheirability.However,myfreshmanyear

learningexperiencemademethinkotherwise.

IhadneverthoughtIcoulddoit,butIfinallyconqueredmy

fearofpublicspeaking.Atthebeginningofthesemester,my

Englishteachergavetheassignmentofspeakingforthree

minutesinfrontoftheclass.Itwasanindividualprojectworth10

percentofthecoursegrade.SinceIwasverynervoustospeakin

public,Iworriedaboutitfortwomonths.Havingnochoice,I

wroteallofmyideasonnotecards.Ipracticed

myspeechwithmynotesinfrontofamirrorandinfrontof

mydog.WouldIbeabletogivemyspeechinfrontofmyclass?

Whenthedayofmyspeechcame,Iwasready.AsIwalked

tothefrontoftheclass,Ilookedatmynotecards.Atthat

moment,IrealizedthatIhadthewronginformation.Therewere

thenotesformybiologytest,nottheinformationaboutmy

speech!Iclosedmyeyesandtookadeepbreath.Suddenly,I

begantospeak.Tomysurprise,thewordsflowedfrommymouth.

Ijustcouldn,tbelieveit!

Everyoneapplaudedmyspeech,andIfeltlikeawinner.The

three-minutespeechthatdaymademerealizethatpeoplecan

alwaysovercometheiroddsiftheyaremotivated.

Itisoftensaidthatwhateverwealthonemayhavewillbe

gonequicklyifthepersononlyspends.However,somepeople

thinkthepurposeoflifeistoenjoyeverymoment,sotheyspend

knowwhatcouldhappeninthefuture.UnlikeBryan,Peterusually

spendsmoneyatwill.Heoftenpurchasesexpensiveelectronic

productssuchasaniPhoneandaniPad.Sometimes,hemight

buyhimselfanexpensivebrand-nameshirtorapairofexpensive

brand-nameshoes.DifferentfromBryan,heneverdepositsextra

moneyinabankaftermeetinghisbasicneeds.Tohim,saving

moneyinabankissomethingverysillybecausehebelievesthat

hecanalwaysearnbigmoneyafterhegetsadecentjobinthe

future.

Allinall,BryanandPeterareverydifferentinthewaythey

spendmoney.Spendingmoneywiselyandsavingextramoney

forfutureurgentneedenablestudentstomanagetheirfinance

andfullyconcentrateontheirstudy.Theywillalsoderivegreat

pleasurefromthewaytheyhandletheirmoney.

Therearealotofpeoplewhobehaveirrationally,causing

problemstothemselvesaswellastoothers.It7shardtoanalyze

theexactcausesbehindirrationalbehavior,butweknowthatit

isamannerofbehaviorthatisnotbasedonlogicandreasoning.

Irrationalbehavioriscausedbyvariousfactorsbuttwostandout.

Thefirstmainfactorthatcontributestoirrationalbehavioris

uncontrolledemotions.Irrationalpeopletakeoffenseorget

angrybeforetheactualsituationoccurs.Theybecomeanxious

andexpressexaggeratedemotionssuchascryingandshouting.

Theyhaveunrealisticexpectations,expectingeveryonetolike

themandifsomeonedoesnot,theyfeelangryandneglected.It

isfairlycommonforpeopletoshowsuchsignsofirrationality.

Toomuchstresscanalsoleadtoirrationalbehavior.Infact,

thesedays,stressisthemajorcauseofphysicalaswellasmental

problems.Stresscreatesfeelingsofanger,irritationand

frustration.Forinstance,whenyouspendastressfuldayinthe

office,itmakesyouanxious.Youstartreleasingyourfrustration

orstressbyscreamingatyourfamilymembersforsmallreasons

likeabadlypreparedmeal.Thatdayyoufeeleverythingiswrong.

Insummary,uncontrolledemotionsandtoomuchstresscan

resultinirrationalbehavior.Tobehaverationallyisnotaneasy

jobbecausethebehaviorisinternalized.However;todiscoverthe

sourceofyourirrationalitywillhelpyoubehavemorerationally.

Women7smanagementstyle

Withamoreprogressiveapproachtodiversityandagreater

numberofwomenbeingtheleaderoforganizations,women

todayfeelcomfortableenoughtousetheirnaturalmanagement

styleatwork.Theirmanagementstyletendstobemore

communicativeandrelationship-oriented.

Oneexampleoftheirmanagementstyleisbeingmore

communicative.Womenusuallyhavegreaterverbalabilityand

verbalcomprehensionthanmen.Theirspeakingskillisactually

innate-bornwithit.Sincetheyareusuallymoresupportive,more

inclinedtodelegateresponsibilitiesandmorewillingtofoster

thecareersoftheiremployeesthantheirmalecounterparts,they

communicatemoreefficiently.Asaresult,employeesarehappy

toshareideaswiththeirfemalebossandfeelexcitedtohave

theirvoiceheardinmakingdecisions.

Anotherexampleofwomen7snaturalmanagementstyleis

beingmorerelationship-oriented.Aswewellunderstand,

womenaremoreemotionallyandspirituallyintelligent.This

givesthemthepotentialtobeamoreunderstandingbossthan

men.Theyknowhowtomotivatetheiremployeeswithhuman

touchessuchas"getwell"cardsand"thankyou"notes.They

aIsoknowwhentomakeconcessionsandaccommodatetheir

employees7personalneedsbecausetheyarenotasrigidand

stubbornasmalebosses.Employees,ofcourse,enjoysucha

relationshipwiththeirfemaleboss.

Inbrief,women7snaturaImanagementstylehelpsthem

succeedintheirworkplace.Thefactthatwomenarebroughtup

tohaveverbalskillsandemotionalintelligenceisahuge

advantage.It'stheirstrengthandtheyneedtouseitmore

insteadofdisguisingthemselves.
