TERMINOLOGY(3)Avulsion:aprocessbywhicholdrivercourseiscompletelyabandonedandanewchannelisscouredintothelandsurface.Oxbowlakesareanexampleofabandonmentofasectionofriverchannel.Lateralmigration:sidewaygrowthofinnerbanksofriversduetodepositionattheexpenseoferosionattheouterbanks,formingthepointbarsofmeanderingriver;Autocyclicsequence:controlledbyprocessestakingplacewithinthebasinitself,suchasmigrationandsuperpositionofchannelsystemsAllocyclicsequence:causedbyvariationsexternaltothebasin,suchasclimaticchanges,tectonicactivity,andsea-levelfluctuations;RiverTypes(1)
