Oneareaofsignificantprogressisimprovingourenergyefficiency,
spaceoptimizationandrenewableenergywhilealsogrowingour
business.Wehavereducedemissionsfromourownoperationsby
24%since2019,eventhoughouremployeeheadcountisup17%.
Thisisanotablemarkerontheroadtoachievingnetzerocarbon
emissionsby2040.
Ourworkwithclientsisessentialtoreachingournetzerogoal
whilehelpingthemachievetheirownsustainabilityaspirations.
BothinvestorsandoccupiersareincreasinglytappingintoCBRE’s

CBREfollowstheGHGProtocolCorporateAccounting
andReportingStandard(GHGProtocol)tocalculateGHG
emissions.SinceourfirstcorporateGHGinventoryin2008,
wehaveappliedanoperationalcontrolboundaryandhave
continuallyimprovedourmethodology.In2023,wemade
anumberofenhancementstoimprovedatacollection,
automateextrapolationmodelsanddevelopintegratedqualityassurancechecks.
NotablechangestoourGHGinventoryincluderefininghowweestimateenergyuseincorporateofficeswheredatais
notavailable,improvingsupplychainemissionsmodeling
andenhancingourmodeltoestimateenergyuseinbuildingsundermanagement(UseofSoldProducts).Wehavefurtherdescribedthesechangesandotherenhancementsinthe

byincreasedrenewableenergy
procurementforourcorporateoffices,
improvedfleetvehiclefuelefficiencyandportfoliooptimization.Weanticipate
meaningfulprogresstowardourScope1and2targetinthenexttwoyearswithadditionalrenewableenergysourcingandtransitiontoelectricvehicles.
Emissionsintensityfrombuildings
thatwemanageforoccupierclients
havedecreasedby11%,andemissionsintensityfrombuildingsthatwe
manageforownersandlandlordshavedecreasedby15%since2019.Followingatechnicalreviewbyathird-party,wemadeseveralimprovementstothe
extrapolationmodelusedtoestimateenergyuseandGHGemissionsin
managedproperties,resultingin
adjustmentsto2019-2022data.Specificenhancementsincludesettingupper
andlowerenergyuseintensity(EUI)

Further,thereviewidentifiedtheneedtoupdateour2019baselinetoensureconsistency.Indoingso,weidentifiedacalculationerrorthathadcompoundingimpactsinextrapolationandresultedinoverstatedGHGemissionshistorically.Theseadjustmentsweremadetoyears2019-2022toenableyear-over-year
comparability,resultinginadecreaseinemissionsascomparedwithfiguresreportedintheprioryear.

In2023,ourScope1emissionsincreasedby16%comparedwithprioryeardue
toincreasedmileageacrossourvehiclefleet.Since2019,we’vedecreasedScope1emissionsby10%,primarilydueto
