Thekinglovedtodiscussthingswithhimself.Whenheandhimselfagreedonsomething,thekingmandedthatitbedone,anditwasdoneatoncebecauseeveryoneinthekingdomwasafraidoftheking.
Whenthingwentsmoothly,thekingwaspleasantandcalm.Butwhenaproblemarose,hiseyesgleamedandherubbedhishandstogetherwithjoy,sincetherewasnothinghelovedmorethancorrectingwrongthingsanddestroyingthosewhoneededtobepunished.
Thekinghadheardaboutthepublicarenaaplacewheremenandwildanimalscoulddemonstratetheircourageandstrengthbyfightingeachother.Theideaappealedtothisbarbaricking.Butheuseditinadifferentwaytopunishtheguiltyandrewardtheinnocent.
