am.Nearlyninehourslater,theyreachedthesummitsuccessfully.Afterwards,theteam

workedtherefor2.5hours.Theyputupasurveymarker,installedaglobalnavigationsatellite

system(GNSS,全球卫星导航系统)receiver,andusedasnow-depthradardevicetocolletdata.

Since1949,ChinahasmadesixmajorscientificsurveysofMountQomolangma,including

twoheightmeasurements.In1975.Chinesesurveyorsreachedthesummitandmeasuredthe

mountainforthefirsttimeat8,848.13metres.In2005zanotherChineseteammeasureditat

8,844.43metres,withoutincludingsnowcap(雪冠).Thegovernmentdeclaredittobethemost

accuratemeasurementtodate

MountQomolangmaliesontheNepal-Chinaborder(边境).Thetwocountrieshavelongargued

whethermeasurementsofthemountainshouldincludeitssnowcap.NepalholdsthatMount

QomolangmaisfourmetreshigherthanthepreviousmeasurementbyChineseresearchers
