andhospitals.Around60familieslivedinthetunnel.
Deepundertheground,hiddenfromsoldiers,peoplelivedinthetunnelformany
years.Theysurvived.Thetunnelwasasuccessandnovillagerslosttheirlivesthanks
toit.
Duringthattime,17childrenwereborninthetunnel,eachofwhoseliveswasa
proofthatthetunnelwaseffectiveinprotectingthevillagers.Astimegoesby,ithas
becomebothahistoricalsiteandatouristattractionforpeoplewishingtolearnabout
aheroicperiodinVietnam'shistory.
