1.Teachingideology

Basedonthecorrectstepsoflanguageusing,especiallyexpectingforaoutputbytheendoftheclass,asufficientunderstandingofthetextisnecessary.Accordingtothescaffoldingteachingmethod,inthisclass,theteacherissupposedtohelpstudentsgraspthemainideaofthetextandleadthesteptobeproductiveinasummarywriting.

2.Analysisofteachingmaterial

ThereadingmaterialisfromNSEFCmodule5unit3usinglanguage,ofwhichthetopicislifeinthefuture.Thepassagemainlycoversthreeinnovativeinventionsinthefuture,whichrequiresstudentstoimagine.Thematerialconsistsofmanynewwords;whilethepurposeoftheclassistowrite,theteachercan’tpaymuchattentiononthenewwords,thusanecessarypreview.Thetextdoesn’thavemuchhiddenmeaningbetweenlines,plusaclearstructure,asummarywritingissuitableandalsomeetwithnewrequirementsoftheEnglishexaminationinNCEE.

3.Analysisoflearners

Thelearnersofthisclassarefromgrade2inFenghuaHighSchool.Asgrade-twostudents,theyhavemanagedsomestrategiesandenoughvocabularytohelpthemunderstandthepassage.Theyareeasilymotivatedandwanttoairtheiropinionsonthetopic.Theyarefamiliarwiththetopicafterfinishingreadingperiod.Butasthepassageisabitlongerthanatestmaterial,andtheyseldomwriteasummaryforanarrativeone,higherlevelofoutputshouldbeobtainedbyeffortsandtheguidanceoftheteacher.
