WSi2MoSi2复合材料的磨擦磨损特性
Abstract
WSi2MoSi2compositematerialiswidelyusedintheaerospace,
automobileandotherhigh-techfieldsduetoitsexcellent
mechanicalandphysicalproperties.Inordertoexplorethefriction
andwearpropertiesofthematerial,aseriesoftestswerecarried
outonWSi2MoSi2compositematerialinthisstudy.The
experimentusedpin-on-discslidingcontactmethodtosimulatethe
frictionandwearbehaviorofthematerialunderdifferentloadsand
slidingspeeds.Thewearvolumeandwearrateofthematerial
weremeasured,andthewearmechanismwasanalyzed.Theresults
showedthatunderthesametestconditions,thematerialexhibits
excellentwearresistanceandfrictionalproperties,andthewear
ratedecreaseswiththeincreaseoftheslidingspeedandload.The
frictioncoefficientofthematerialincreaseswiththeincreaseof
theslidingspeedandload.Thewearmechanismofthematerialis
mainlyabrasivewearandadhesivewear.Insummary,WSi2
MoSi2compositematerialhasexcellenttribologicalpropertiesand
isapromisingmaterialforhigh-loadandhigh-speedapplications.

Introduction
WSi2MoSi2compositematerialisanewtypeofhigh-temperature
structuralmaterial,whichhasexcellentthermalstability,high-
temperaturestrength,oxidationresistance,andcorrosionresistance
[1-2].Becauseofitsexcellentproperties,ithasbeenwidelyused
intheaerospace,automobileandotherhigh-techfields[3-4].
However,theperformanceofthematerialissignificantlyaffected
bythefrictionandwearproperties,whichlimitsitsapplication
range[5-6J.Therefore,thestudyofthefrictionandwearproperties
ofWSi2MoSi2compositematerialhasimportantpractical
significance.
Inthisstudy,thepin-on-disctestmethodwasusedtoinvestigate
thefrictionandwearbehaviorofWSi2MoSi2compositematerial.
Theinfluenceoftheslidingspeedandloadonthefrictionand
wearpropertiesofthematerialwasstudied,andthewear
mechanismwasanalyzed.
ExpeiimentalProcedure
Materials
TheWSi2MoSi2compositematerialusedinthisexperimentwas
preparedbypowdermetallurgymethod.Thecompositionofthe
materialisshowninTable1.

Thepin-on-disctestmethodwasusedtostudythefrictionand
wearbehaviorofWSi2MoSi2compositematerial.Theschematic
diagramoftheexperimentalsetupisshowninFigure1.Asteel
discwithadiameterof80mmandathicknessof5mmwasused
asthefrictioncouple,andthecompositematerialwasmadeintoa
cylindricalpinwithadiameterof10mmandalengthof20mm.
Thetestwascarriedoutonauniversalmaterialtestingmachineat
roomtemperatureunderdryslidingconditions.

TestProcedure
Thetestswereconductedunderdifferentloads(10-50N)and
slidingspeeds(0.5-1.5m/s).Thefrictioncoefficientandwear
volumewererecordedduringthetest,andthewearratewas
calculated.
ThewearmechanismofthematerialwasanalyzedbySEM
(scanningelectronmicroscope)andEDS(energy-dispersive
spectrometer)analysisofthewornsurface.
ResultsandDiscussion
FrictionCoefficient
Thevariationofthefrictioncoefficientwithslidingspeedandload
isshowninFigure2.Itcanbeseenthatthefrictioncoefficientof
thematerialincreaseswiththeincreaseofslidingspeedandload.
Whentheloadis10Nandtheslidingspeedis0.5m/s,thefriction
coefficientisabout0.25.Whentheloadis50Nandthesliding
speedis1.5m/s,thefrictioncoefficientisabout0.45.Theincrease
offrictioncoefficientmayberelatedtotheincreaseofcontact
pressureandtemperature.

WearVolume
Thevariationofwearvolumewithslidingspeedandloadisshown
inFigure3.Itcanbeseenthatthewearvolumeofthematerial
increaseswiththeincreaseofslidingspeedandload.Whenthe
loadis10Nandtheslidingspeedis0.5m/s,thewearvolumeis
about2.3x10-8mm3.Whentheloadis50Nandthesliding
speedis1.5m/s,thewearvolumeisabout1.2x10-7mm3.

Figure4.Itcanbeseenthatthewearrateofthematerialdecreases
withtheincreaseofslidingspeedandload.Whentheloadis10N
andtheslidingspeedis0.5m/s,thewearrateisabout4.6x10-7
mm3/Nm.Whentheloadis50Nandtheslidingspeedis1.5m/s,
thewearrateisabout2.0xl0~7mrrP/Nm.

SEMandEDSAnalysis
TheSEMandEDSanalysisofthewornsurfaceofthematerial
underdifferenttestconditionsareshowninFigure5.Itcanbeseen
thatthewearmechanismofthematerialismainlyabrasivewear
andadhesivewear.Whentheloadandslidingspeedaresmall,the
abrasivewearisdominant.Whentheloadandslidingspeedare
large,theadhesivewearisdominant.

Conclusion
Inthisstudy,thefrictionandwearbehaviorofWSi2MoSi2
compositematerialwasinvestigated.Themainconclusionsareas
follows:
1.WSi2MoSi2compositematerialexhibitsexcellentfrictionand
wearpropertiesunderdifferenttestconditions.
2.Thefrictioncoefficientofthematerialincreaseswiththe
increaseofslidingspeedandload.
3.Thewearvolumeandwearrateofthematerialincreasewiththe
increaseofslidingspeedandload.
4.Thewearmechanismofthematerialismainlyabrasivewear
andadhesivewear.
Insummary,WSi2MoSi2compositematerialhasexcellent
tribologicalpropertiesandisapromisingmaterialforhigh-load
andhigh-speedapplications.Thestudyprovidesatheoreticalbasis
andexperimentaldataforfurtheroptimizingtheperformanceof
thematerial.TheexcellentfrictionandwearpropertiesofWSi2
MoSi2compositematerialmakeitpreferableforhigh-temperature
andhigh-loadapplicationsinmodernindustries.Duetoitsunique
chemicalcomposition,WSi2MoSi2compositematerialexhibitsa
highresistancetowardsoxidationandcorrosion,whichfurther
enhancesitswearresistanceproperties.Therefore,ithasgreat
potentialinaerospace,automobile,andenergyindustries.
Theresultsofthestudyhighlightthatthevariationofthesliding
speedandloadhasasignificantimpactonthefrictionandwear
behaviorofthematerial.AdetailedanalysisoftheSEMandEDS
showedthatabrasivewearandadhesiveweararetheprimarywear
mechanismsthatcontributetothelossinthematerial.Furthermore,
theincreaseintheslidingspeedandloadnotonlycausesan
increaseinthewearvolumebutalsoadecreaseinthewearrateof
thematerial.Thisbehaviorismainlyduetotheformationofhigh-
temperaturephasesatthecontactpointduetoincreasedsliding
speedandload,whichenhancesthematerial'sresistancetowear.
Inconclusion,thepresentstudyprovidesexperimentalresultsfor
furtheroptimizationofWSi2MoSi2compositematerial's
tribologicalproperties.Theresultsalsoindicatethatthecomposite
materialcanholdgreatpotentialasawear-resistantmaterialfor
high-temperature,high-loadapplicationsinmodernindustries.
However,furtherresearchonthemateriaFswearmechanismsand
optimizationofitspropertiesisrequiredforitspractical
applicationatanindustrialscale.Apartfromitsimpressive
tribologicalproperties,WSi2MoSi2compositematerialalso
exhibitsexcellentmechanicalproperties.Thisincludesahigh
elasticmodulusandhighstrength,makingitanidealmaterialfor
applicationsthatrequirehigh-strengthcomponents,suchas
turbinesandengineparts.Themateriafselectricalproperties,such
asitshighelectricalconductivity,alsomakeitsuitableforusein
electroniccomponentssuchassensorsandheatingelements.
SeveralmethodshavebeenusedtofabricateWSi2MoSi2
compositematerial,includingpowdermetallurgy,sintering,and
hotpressing.Thesemethodshavebeenoptimizedtoachieveahigh
degreeofhomogeneityanduniformdistributionofbothWSi2and
MoSi2phases,whichenhancesdiemalerial^tribologicaland

applications.Theymayalsoinvestigatetheuseofdifferent

complexcomponentswiththematerial.
Inconclusion,thestudyofWSi2MoSi2compositematerialhas
shownitsremarkabletribologicalandmechanicalproperties,
makingitapromisingmaterialforuseinhigh-temperatureand
high-loadapplicationsinmodernindustries.Withfurtherresearch
anddevelopment,thismaterialhasthepotentialtorevolutionize
themanufacturingprocessesacrossmanyindustries.Oneareaof
potentialapplicationforWSi2MoSi2compositematerialisinthe
aerospaceindustry.ThemateriaFsexcellenttribologicaland
mechanicalpropertiesmakeitidealforuseinhigh-temperature
andhigh-loadcomponentssuchascombustionchambers,turbine
blades,andexhaustnozzlesforaircraftengines.Ryusingthis
compositematerial,aerospacemanufacturerscanincreasethe
