Inanotherstudy,publishedin2016,17labsaroundtheglobefailedtoreproducetheresults.
Althoughitwasabigblowto“facialfeedbacktheory”,in2018,researchersinIsrael
rerantheexperimentoncemore.Theysaidtheywereabletoreproducetheresults—aslongas
theparticipantsweren'tbeingobservedorfilmed.
“Itgetscomplicated,"saysPaulaNiedenthalwhowasnotinvolvedintherecentresearch.“Part
