TeachingProcedures
Step1:Lead-in(5minutes)
Showavideoofanimalsandaskstudents:
"Whatanimalscanyouseeinthevideo?"
EncouragestudentstoanswerinEnglish.
Displaypicturesofanimalssuchasmonkeys,penguins,giraffes,etc.,andask:
"Doyouliketheseanimals?Whyorwhynot?"
Introducethekeygrammarpoint"because"anditsusage.
Step2:PresentationandPractice(20minutes)
GrammarFocuson"because"
(1)PresentsentencesfromtheGrammarFocusandaskstudentstocircletheword"because".
(2)Guidestudentstoobservethesentencestructureandsummarizetheusageof"because".
Examples:"Whydoyoulikedogs?Becausetheyarefriendly."
"Whydoesn'tshelikecats?Becausetheyaretoolazy."
(3)Letstudentsimitatetheexamplesandcreatetheirownsentences.
Nouns:SingularandPluralForms
(1)Showpicturesorrealobjectstocomparesingularandpluralformsofnouns.
(2)Explaintherulesofnounpluralization,includingregularchanges(e.g.,adding"-s")andirregularchanges(e.g.,"sheep-sheep").
(3)Havestudentspracticeconvertingsingularnounstopluralformsandviceversa.

Step3:DialoguePractice(15minutes)
Groupstudentsintopairsanddistributedialoguepracticematerials.
Letstudentspracticethedialogueandemphasizetheuseofthetargetgrammarandvocabulary.
Inviteafewpairstopresenttheirdialogues,andletotherstudentslisten,evaluate,andprovidefeedback.
Step4:Fill-in-the-BlankExercise(10minutes)
Displaysentencesontheboardthatcontainnounsinbothsingularandpluralforms,aswellasspecialinterrogativesentences.
Askstudentstofillintheblankswiththecorrectformsofnounsandcompletethesentences.
Reviewandcorrecttheanswerstogether,emphasizingkeypoints.
Step5:AnimalGuessingGame(10minutes)
Dividestudentsintogroupsandletonestudentfromeachgroupthinkofananimal.
Theotherstudentsinthegroupaskquestionstoguesstheanimal,usingthetargetgrammarandvocabulary(e.g.,"Istheanimalbig?""DoesitcomefromAfrica?").
Continueuntiltheanimalisguessedcorrectly,thenswitchroles.
Encouragestudentstousethegrammarandvocabularylearnedinclassduringthegame.
Step6:Assignment(5minutes)
Reviewthemaincontentoftheclass,including"because"clauses,nounpluralizationrules,andspecialinterrogativesentences.
Emphasizekeyanddifficultpointsandprovidepositivefeedbackonstudents'performance.
