DVCAMvideocassettetapescomeintwosizes:standardandmini.Amaximumrecordingtimeof184-minutesispossiblewithastandardsizecassette(PDV-184ME),

whiletheminicassette(PDVM-40ME)allowsupto

40-minutes.Althoughthetapeisrelativelynarrow,1/4-inch(6.35mm),andthecassettecompact,theselongrecordingtimesareachievedbyusingSony

advancedME(MetalEvaporated)tape.

Shouldyourequirealongerrecordtimethanwhatis

availablewiththeDVCAMformat,theDSR-45iscapableofrecordingintheDVformat.Inthisformat,astandard-sizedcassetterecordsupto270minutes.

audio,timecode,andcontrolcanbetransferredthroughthisI/Owithvirtuallynodegradationofimageorsoundquality.Inaddition,whentheDVCAMcassettewithICmemoryisloadedintoaDSR-45,theClipLinkTMdata

AutoRepeatFunction

TheDSR-45hasanAutoRepeatfunctionthatenablesittorepeatedlyplaybackaprogram.Justaftertheendofthetapeisreached,orthefirstcompleteblankportionorthefirstindexpointisdetected,thetapeisautomaticallyrewoundandplaybackofthesegmentisrepeated.9

Power-onRecording/PlaybackCapabilitiesAnexternaltimercanbeusedtotriggertheDSR-45torecordorplayback.WhentheTIMERswitchonthefrontpanelissettoREC,theDSR-45automaticallystarts

recordingassoonastheACpoweristurnedon.

Likewise,whentheTIMERswitchissettoREPEAT,theDSR-45goesintotheAutoRepeatmodeandstarts

playingbackaprogramthemomentthatpoweristurnedon.Theseconvenientfeaturesenableunattended
