intotheirhomes.Thisimmersion(沉浸)intothelocalcultureallowedustoexperiencefirsthand

thedailylivesofNicaraguanpeople.Istillrememberthesmellofhomemadefood,thesoundof

childrenplayinginthestreets,andthewarmthandhospitalityofourhostfamily.Despitethe

languagebarrier,wequicklyformeddeepconnectionsandfriendshipsthattranscended(超越)

Oneparticularexperiencestandsoutinmymemory.Oneevening,ourhostfamilyinvited

ustoatraditionalNicaraguancelebration.Aswcarrivedatthecolorfulsquare,Iwasamazedby

thesightsandsoundsthatsurroundedus.Therhythmicbeatsoftraditionalmusicfilledtheair,and

peoplewerejoyouslydancingandcelebrating.ItwasatthatmomentwhenIfoundmyselfmoving

totherhythmandenjoyingthelocalcustomsthatIrealizedtlicpowerofculturalexchange.Ifelta

senseofunityandconnectionwiththepeoplearoundme,despiteourdifferences.Thisexperience

taughtmethatunderstandingandrespectingdifferentculturescanbringpeopleclosertogether

Duringthefirst1()yearsofrecovery,forestswithadequatenitrogenreboundedatabouttwicethe

rateofthoselackingit.Phosphorusalonedidnotproducethesameeffect.

Wen,whocarriedoultheresearch,said,“Ourstudyisexcitingbecauseitsuggeststhereare

wayswecanboostthecaptureandstorageofgreenhousegasesthroughrefbreslal沁nbymanaging

water.Thesampleswereanalyzedfbrcoliformbacteria.Despitebeingwidelytrusted,bottled

waterwassixtimesmorelikelytotestpositivefbrcolifbnnbacteriathanotherwatersources.

Only17%ofbottlcdwatersamplesmetWorldHealthOrganizationstandardsfbrsafedrinking

water.
