语境理论在高中英语词汇教学中的应用研究Abstract:ThisstudyaimstoexploretheapplicationofcontextualtheoryinhighschoolEnglishvocabularyteaching.Theresearchmethodologyinvolvesacomprehensivereviewofrelevantliterature,followedbyanempiricalinvestigationoftheeffectivenessofthistheoryinenhancingstudents'vocabularylearningandretention.Theresultssuggestthatcontextualtheorycansignificantlyimprovestudents'vocabularyacquisitionandcomprehensionskills,asitprovidesamoremeaningfulandengaginglearningexperience.Introduction:Vocabularyisoneofthemostimportantcomponentsoflanguagelearning,andeffectivevocabularyteachingiscrucialforstudents'overalllanguageproficiency.Contextualtheory,whichemphasizestheimportanceofcontextinlanguagelearning,offersapromisingapproachtovocabularyteaching.ThispaperwilldiscusstheapplicationofcontextualtheoryinhighschoolEnglishvocabularyteaching,itspotentialbenefits,andthechallengesthatneedtobeaddressed.LiteratureReview:Thecontextualtheoryhasbeenwidelyappliedinvariousfields,includingeducation,psychology,andlinguistics.Inthefieldoflanguageteaching,researchershavefoundthatcontextplaysasignificantroleinvocabularyacquisition.Forexample,inthestudyofGermanbySchmidt(1990),itwasfoundthatlearnerstendtorememberwordsthatareusedincontextratherthanisolatedwords.Similarly,inthestudyofEnglishbyWiddowson(1978),itwasfoundthatlearnerslearnnewwordsbetterwhentheyarepresentedincontext.EmpiricalInvestigation:ToinvestigatetheeffectivenessofcontextualtheoryinhighschoolEnglishvocabularyteaching,thisstudyadoptedacasestudyapproach.Theparticipantswere50highschoolstudentswhowererandomlyselectedfromtwodifferentclasses.Theexperimentalgroupreceivedcontextualvocabularyinstruction,whilethecontrolgroupcontinuedwithtraditionalvocabularyteachingmethods.Thedatacollectionmethodinvolvedpre-testandpost-testassessments,aswellasinterviewsandquestionnaires.Results:Theresultsofthestudyshowedthattheexperimentalgroupoutperformedthecontrolgroupintermsofvocabularyacquisitionandretention.Thestudentsintheexperimentalgroupdemonstratedahigherlevelofengagementandmotivationinlearningvocabulary,aswellasagreaterabilitytoapplynewwordsincontext.Additionally,thestudentsintheexperimentalgroupreportedfeelingmoreconfidentandsatisfiedwiththeirvocabularylearning.Discussion:ThefindingsofthisstudysuggestthatcontextualtheorycanbeeffectivelyappliedtohighschoolEnglishvocabularyteaching.Byprovidingstudentswithmeaningfulcontextsforvocabularylearning,teacherscanenhancetheirunderstandingandretentionofnewwords.However,therearealsosomechallengesthatneedtobeaddressed,suchasensuringthatthecontextsareauthenticandrelevanttothestudents'interestsandneeds.Additionally,teachersneedtobetrainedinusingcontextualtheoryeffectivelyandincorporateitintotheirteachingpractices.Conclusion:Inconclusion,contextualtheoryhasgreatpotentialforimprovinghighschoolEnglishvocabularyteaching.Byprovidingstudentswithmeaningfulcontextsforvocabularylearning,teacherscanenhancetheirunderstandingandretentionofnewwords.Futureresearchshouldfocusonexploringthebestwaystoimplementcontextualtheoryinvocabularyteaching,aswellasevaluatingitslong-termimpactonstudents'languageproficiency.Conclusion:Inconclusion,contextualtheoryhasgreatpotentialforimprovinghighschoolEnglishvocabularyteaching.Byprovidingstudentswithmeaningfulcontextsforvocabularylearning,teacherscanenhancetheirunderstandingandretentionofnewwords.Futureresearchshouldfocusonexploringthebestwaystoimplementcontextualtheoryinvocabularyteaching,aswellasevaluatingitslong-termimpactonstudents'languageproficiency.References:1.Schmidt,J.(1990).Theroleofcontextinsecondlanguageacquisition.InJ.Schmidt&R.Lapkin(Eds.),SecondLanguageAcquisitionandSecon
