IndiaalreadyhasconsiderabledepthinICE*vehicleassemblyand

conventionalautocomponents.Evmanufacturingaddsanotherlayer,withgreaterscopeforlocalisationacrossbatterycells,powersemiconductors,criticalmineralsandrelatedtechnologies.Thiswidermanufacturingbaseiscreatingmorevariedrequirementsforindustrialland,utilities,supplieraccess,logisticsinfrastructure,facilitiesandworkforcecapabilities.

Locationdecisionsarealsobecomingmoremultidimensional.MatureoEMandsupplierecosystemsremainimportant,butconnectivity,industrialreal

estateavailability,infrastructurereadiness,utilitiesandeaseofexecutionarealsocritical.Thereportbenchmarksleadingautomotivestatesacross

India'sautomobilesectorhasdevelopedintooneoftheworld'slargestmanufacturingecosystems,rankingfourthgloballyinvehicleoutput,withproductionreaching35millionunitsinFY20261.concurrently,vehiclesalestouchednearly28millionunitsinFY20261,furtherdemonstratingthescaleofthedomesticmarket.Thebroaderautomotivesectorcontributesapproximately7.1%2toIndia'SGDpand~49%2ofmanufacturingGDP,

underscoringitssignificancewithinthecountry'sindustrialeconomy.

Inadditiontoitsscale,trendssuchaspremiumisation,electrification,andsupplychaindiversificationarebroadeningthesector'smanufacturingandtechnologicalcapabilities.InitiativessuchastheproductionLinkedIncentive(PLI)schemeandpMEDRIVE*areacceleratingdomesticmanufacturingofadvancedautomotivetechnologies(AAT)andtheexpansionofelectricvehicle(EV)infrastructure.Furthermore,India'sauto
