These fall into three basic types, namely, land (road, rail, and pipeline), water (maritime), and air. Air transport

4、ation: Air transportation is limited by location (a commercial plane needs a very long runway for landing and taking off), climate, air currents, and so on. Today, air transportation carries growing quantities of high-value goods. Road transportation: The flexibility of road transportation makes it

5、one of the major means of transportation. Road transport systems are mainly used by light industries that need fast movement of goods in small quantities. Rail transportation: Rail transport systems offer the highest capacity, so they are used mostly by heavy industries, such as coal producers. Pipe

6、line: Pipelines will always be a means for transporting oil and gas because it is safe, economical and convenient. Maritime transportation: Maritime transportation can move large quantities of goods over very long distances, and therefore heavy goods, such as oil, iron and steel, are transported by
