1、FORMATE DESTRUCTION SYSTEM SHUTDOWN TO T&INOTE: This is for Training only, and is not intended to be used as a step by step procedure.PO/MTBEFORMATE DESTRUCTION SYSTEM SHUTDOWN TOT&IPurposeA shutdown to T&I of the Formate Destruction System is when the system feed has stopped. A shutdown to T&I is d

2、one prior to Formate Destruction System clearing and safing process.ConditionsAfter the Formate Destruction Reactor System has been put in standby mode. Refer to Formate Destruction Reactor System Shutdown to Standby procedure.When testing and repairs are to be made to the Formate Destruction Reacto

3、r System.When PO/MTBE Unit is shut-down for T&I.NOTE: This is for Training only, and is not intended to be used as a step by step procedure.PO/MTBENOTE: TO DEINVENTORY THE FORMATE DESTRUCTION SYSTEM, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN THE TBA FEED FRACTIONATION COLUMN IN TOTAL REFLUX. ONCE THE TBA FEE

4、D FRACTIONATION COLUMN IS IN TOTAL REFLUX WITH NO FORWARD FLOWS ON BOTH THE OVERHEAD AND BOTTOMS OF COLUMN THIS PROCEDURE CAN BE PERFORMED.Also verify that 01E0310-A/B shell side has been by-passed or MTBE is shutdown and there is no flow through shell side of 01E0310-A/B. Steps to by- pass the shel

5、l side of 01E0310-A/Bare described in Formate Destruction System Shutdown to Standby procedure.GUIDELINE Ensure OSBL Crude TBA Tank Feed pumps are shut down. Close block valve on Crude TBA feed from battery limits. Close valve nearest to the tank farm. Ensure FV-38090 Demineralized water feed contro

6、l valve to Formate Destruction system is closed. Close valve on upstream side of FV-38090. Ensure that by-pass valve around FV-38090 is also closed. Ensure FV-38091 Hydrogen flow control valve to Formate Destruction is closed. Close valve on hydrogen supply line at battery limit. Close valve nearest

7、 to the hydrogen supply source. Ensure FC-38030 S15 steam flow to 01E0312 Formate Destruction Heater is closed. Close valve on upstream side of FV-38030. Ensure that by-pass valve around FV-38030 is also closed. Empty 01D0386 Formate Destruction Heater Condensate Drum.When empty close valve on downs

8、tream side of LV-38029 Condensate Control valve. Verify that by-pass around LV-38029 is closed. Open vent and drain to atmosphere on condensate drum. Using DCS open LV-38029 condensate control valve. Open bleeder on downstream side of LV-38029. Open high point vent on shell side (Steam side) of 01E0

9、312 Formate Destruction Heater. Close TBA from Off Spec TBA tank at battery limit. This valve is located upstream of control valve station.Close valve at battery limit that is nearest to the Off Spec TBA tank. Close valve on downstream side of TBA Feed Fractionator bottom flow to MTBE Reactor Feed h

10、eater. Ensure that by-pass valve around feed valve is closed. Slowly reduce setpoint on PV-31201 TBA Feed Fractionation Column feed backpressure control valve to target value of 0.50 MPa g. The goal is to reduce the pressure on the Formate Destruction equipment that is located upstream of the TBA Fe

11、ed Fractionation column below the pressure of the utility nitrogen. This will allow introduction of nitrogen into the system. PV-31201 should only be opened at the rate that material can be processed in the TBA Feed Fractionation Column. When pressure is reduced and column is stable, continue with p

12、rocedure.Connect utility nitrogen hoses with proper anti-backflow devices to the following locations. Bleeder valve on Crude TBA line at battery limit. Connect to bleeder valvenearest the tank farm. Bleeder valve on upstream side of FV-38090 demineralized water control valve. Bleeder on battery limi

13、t hydrogen line. Connect to bleeder just downstream of battery limit valve. Bleeder valve on shell side outlet (top) of 01E0311-C. Bleeder is located between shell side outlet block valve and 01E0311-C. Bleeder valve on TBA line at battery limit.Located upstream of FV-31218. Roll N20 nitrogen ells i

14、n on 01R0311 Formate Destruction Reactor and 01R0380 Perox Decomposition Reactor. Do not open nitrogen to the reactors at this time. Turn figure 8 blinds to the open position for these two services. Manipulate the following valves to purge TBA / Water mixture from the Crude TBA Feed line into the TB

15、A Feed Fractionation Column. Verify that valves on upstream and downstream side of FV-38021 TBA Feed control valve are open.Set FV-38021 in manual position with output at 100%, this will fully open control valve. Verify that TBA valve to the 2nd Stage Primary Fractionator is closed. This valve is lo

16、cated between the Crude TBA Battery limit valve and FE flow meter. Close tube side inlet valve (bottom) to 01E0310-A. Open 2 valves that by-pass TBA feed around both 01E0310-A/B tube side and 01E0311-A/B/C shell side. There are 3 valves in this area, ensure that by- pass valve that is connected betw

17、een 01E0310-B tube side outlet and 01E0311- A shell side inlet is closed. Close shell side outlet valve (top) on 01E0311-C Verify that tube side inlet and outlet valves are open on 01E0312 Formate Destruction Heater. Open by-pass valve around 01R0311 Formate Destruction Reactor. There are two by-pas

18、s lines around the Formate Destruction Reactor, these are used to allow reactor to reverse flow direction. On the bottom of the reactor there are two valves that must be open for the normal flow to be routed into the bottom of the reactor.Open the by-pass valve that is upstream of first reactor inle

19、t block valve (farthest from the reactor). On the other end of the same by-pass line at top of reactor, open by-pass valve on Reactor effluent line (top). On bottom of reactor close valve just downstream of reactor by-pass valveopened in bullet above. Open Perox Decompositon Reactor by-pass valve. C

20、lose Perox Decompositon Reactor effluent valve. This is the valve directly on top of the reactor. Verify that valves on upstream and downstream sides of PV-31201 are open. Verify that valve on TBA to MTBE One-Step Reactors line is closed. This valve is located upstream of PV-31201. Check and Calibra

21、te an approved gas detector will be used to check the Lower Explosive Levels (LEL) in piping and equipment. Open by-pass around PSV-03310B on hydrogen feed line to Formate Destruction system. Open FV-38091 hydrogen flow control valve in manual 100%. Open nitrogen connected to hydrogen line at batter

22、y limits. Check bleeders on upstream and downstream sides of FV-38091 hydrogen flow control valve. Purge with nitrogen until LEL reading zero. Close by-pass around PSV-03310B on hydrogen feed line to Formate Destruction system. Close nitrogen to hydrogen line. Close valve on downstream side of FV-38

23、090 Demineralized water feed control valve station. This valve is located downstream of double check valves on demineralized water feed to the TBA line. Open bleeder valve to grade on demineralized water feed line downstream of double check valves and upstream of TBA feed line. Place FV-38090 Demine

24、ralized water feed control valve in manual with output set at 100% (valve fully open). Open nitrogen connected to bleeder on upstream side of FV-38090. Blow until line is dry.Close nitrogen. Place FV-38021 Crude TBA feed control valve in manual with output set at 100% (fully open valve). Place PC-31

25、201 in manual position with output set at zero (close valve) Open nitrogen to Crude TBA feed line at battery limit bleeder. Monitor pressure on PC-31201 TBA Feed Fractionation Column feed backpressure. Pressure should rise and equalize with utility nitrogen system. Slowly open PV-31201 to allow TBA

26、to flow into the TBA Feed Fractionation Column. Open at rate the column conditions allow. Maintain column on total reflux with bottom stream lined up to pump bottoms out. Monitor PC-31201 closely, when lines have been blown dry, nitrogen will begin to flow into column. Pressure should rise when this

27、 occurs. PSV on the TBA Feed Fractionation Column lifts at 0.50 MPa g.Ensure that column pressure stays below this point to avoid flaring. When pressure rises to indicate lines are dry, close PV-31201. Close nitrogen to the Crude TBA line at the unit battery limits. Depressure nitrogen from system a

28、t blowdown on upstream side of FV-38021 Crude TBA Feed control valve. When line depressured, block blowdown. Manipulate the following valves to deinventory the shell side of 01E0311- A/B/C and the tube side of 01E0310-A/B to the TBA Feed Fractionation Column. Verify that the shell side outlet (top)

29、of 01E0311-C is closed. Verify that shell side inlet (bottom) to 01E0311-A is open. Verify that tube side outlet (top) from 01E0310-B is open Verify that tube side inlet (bottom) to 01E0310-A is open Close valve on downstream side of FV-38091 hydrogen control valve. Ensurethat by-pass valve around F

30、V-38091 is closed. Close valve on downstream side of FV-38021 Crude TBA feed control valve. Ensure that by-pass valve around FV-38021 is closed. Verify 2 valves that by-pass TBA feed around both 01E0310-A/B tube side and 01E0311-A/B/C shell side are open. There are 3 valves in this area, ensure that

31、 by-pass valve that is connected between 01E0310-B tube side outlet and 01E0311-A shell side inlet is closed. Verify that valves on tube side inlet and outlet on 01E0312 Formate Destruction heater are open. Verify by-pass valve around 01R0311 Formate Destruction Reactor is open. There are two by-pas

32、s lines around the Formate Destruction Reactor, these are used to allow reactor to reverse flow direction. On the bottom of the reactor there are two valves that must be open for the normal flow to be routed into the bottom of the reactor.Verify the by-pass valve that is upstream of first reactor in

Verify that valves on upstream and downstream sides of PV-03057 are open. Verify that valve on TBA to MTBE One-St

35、ep Reactors line is closed. This valve is located upstream of PV-03057. Verify PC-31201 in manual position with output set at zero (Valve closed). Open nitrogen into 01E0311-C shell side outlet. Monitor pressure on PC-31201 TBA Feed Fractionation Column feed backpressure. Pressure should rise and eq

36、ualize with utility nitrogen system. Slowly open PV-31201 to allow TBA to flow into the TBA Feed Fractionation Column. Open at rate the column conditions allow. Maintain column on total reflux with bottom stream lined up to MTBE. Monitor PC-31261 closely, when exchangers have been blown dry, nitroge

37、n will begin to flow into column. Pressure should rise when this occurs. PSV on the TBA Feed Fractionation Column lifts at 0.50 MPa g. Ensure that column pressure stays below this point to avoid flaring. When pressure rises to indicate lines are dry, close PV-31201. Close nitrogen to shell side outl

38、et of 01E0311-C. Depressure nitrogen from system at blowdown located between 01E0310-B tube side outlet and 01E0311-A shell side inlet. When system depressured to approx. 0.1 MPa g, close blowdown. Manipulate the following valves to deinventory 01R0311 Formate Destruction Reactor into the TBA Feed F

39、ractionation Column. Verify inlet valve on bottom of 01R0311 is open Verify 2nd valve on bottom inlet to 01R0311 is closed. This is the valve farthest from the reactor. Close 01R0311 reactor by-pass line. Close reactor by-pass line located on reactor effluent end (top) of by-pass linefrom above bull

40、et. Open by-pass line that is located between the two bottom reactor inlet lines. Open reactor effluent end of line (top) on line from the above bullet. Close reactor effluent valve, located directly on top of 01R0311 Formate Destruction Reactor. Slowly open N20 nitrogen to top of 01R0311 Formate De

41、struction Reactor. While opening monitor PI-38031 and PC-31201. Open PV-31201 to achieve desired flow into the TBA Feed Fractionation Column. Adjust N20 nitrogen valve and PC-31201 to achieve flow and manipulate reactor pressure. Target pressure of 0.50 MPa g on 01R0311. Also monitor PI-31204 overhe

42、ad pressure on the TBA Feed Fractionation Column closely while moving TBA from 01R0311 to 01C0312. Slowly open PV-31201 to allow TBA to flow into the TBA Feed Fractionation Column. Open at rate the column conditions allow. Maintain column on total reflux with bottom stream lined up to MTBE. Monitor

43、PC-31204 closely, when reactor has been blown empty, nitrogen will begin to flow into column. Pressure should rise when this occurs. PSV on the TBA Feed Fractionation Column lifts at 0.50 MPa g.Ensure that column pressure stays below this point to avoid flaring. When pressure rises to indicate the R

44、eactor is empty, close PV-31201. Close nitrogen to top of 01R0311 Formate Destruction Reactor. Depressure 01R0311 Formate Destruction Reactor to approx. 0.1 MPa g to blowdown via the bottom blowdown connection. When depressured, close blowdown. Manipulate the following valves to deinventory 01R0380

45、Perox Decomposition Reactor into the TBA Feed Fractionation Column. Verify that 01R0380 effluent valve is closed. This is the valve located directly on top of reactor. Verify both valves (2) that allow feed into the bottom of 01R0380 are open Verify that by-pass valve around 01R0380 is open Close al

46、l by-pass valves around 01R0311 Formate Destruction Reactor. 4valves total, 2 on top and 2 on bottom of reactor. Close valve on 01R0311 Formate Destruction Reactor effluent line (top) that is located between the two top by-pass lines. Slowly open N20 nitrogen to top of 01R0380 Perox Decomposition Re

47、actor. While opening monitor pressures. Open PV-31201 to achieve desired flow into the TBA Feed Fractionation Column. Adjust N20 nitrogen valve and PC-31201 to achieve flow and manipulate reactor pressure. Target pressure of 0.50 MPa g on 01R0380. Also monitor overhead pressure on the TBA Feed Fract

48、ionation Column closely while moving TBA from 01R0311 to 01C0312. Slowly open PV-31201 to allow TBA to flow into the TBA Feed Fractionation Column. Open at rate the column conditions allow. Maintain column on total reflux with bottom stream lined up to MTBE. Monitor PC-31261 closely, when reactor ha

49、s been blown empty, nitrogen will begin to flow into column. Pressure should rise when this occurs. PSV on the TBA Feed Fractionation Column lifts at 0.50 MPa g.Ensure that column pressure stays below this point to avoid flaring. When pressure rises to indicate the Reactor is empty, close PV-31201.

50、Close nitrogen to top of 01R0380 Perox Decomposition Reactor. Depressure 01R0380 Perox Decomposition Reactor to approx. 0.1 MPa g to blowdown via the bottom blowdown connection. When depressured, close blowdown. Close valve on upstream side of PV-31201 TBA Feed Fractionation Column feed backpressure

51、 control valve, ensure that by-pass around PV-31201 is closed. Lower level in column and reflux drum to minimum. Close FV-31231 S1 steam to 01E0316 TBA Feed Fractionation Column Reboiler. Close S1 steam isolation valve located upstream of FV-31231. Close LV-31227 condensate control valve when low level in condensate pot achieved. Shutdown 01P0317-A/B Cond
