1、 Using Language: the Story of Atlanta教学设计英语组 王馨蔚课型：读说课教学对象：嘉积中学高一年级学生教材分析及处理： 本课为人教版英语必修2 Unit 2 Using Language: the Story of Atlanta。整节课围绕一个希腊神话故事，讲述英雄希波墨涅斯(Hippomenes)在爱神的帮助下用计在同希腊公主亚特兰大(Atlanta)的赛跑中获胜，得以娶她为妻。阅读描述了赛前故事的发展。阅读后有六个练习。练习1是阅读理解题；练习2启发学生思考故事的情节将会怎样发展。练习3至练习5是针对赛中和赛后设计的听力。练习6是拓展性的三个讨论题。T

2、he Story of Atlanta是一篇神话故事，情节简单，通俗易懂，因此可做泛读课处理。原课本听力中针对赛中和赛后设计的结果过于简单、空白无力，故作者大胆改编，将该部分改成开放的口语表达训练。最后把三个讨论题提炼成一个题目希波墨涅斯应该被杀死还是应该和亚特兰大公主结婚让学生运用自己的综合分析和评价能力进行讨论。Teaching important points 1. Teaching procedure（教学过程）Step 1 Warming upDo a quiz about basic information of the Olympics.【设计意图】本单元第一课时学习了一些奥运知识以及现代奥运和古奥运的区别，而本课时所讲内容与古奥运有关，故本环节的设计即达到复习的目的又为进入课文做好准备。Step 2 Pre-reading First ask a girl if she lived in ancient times, could she take part in the Olympic

Then Show a picture of Atlanta and ask students to guess why many men would be willing to die because of her. 【设计意图】通过第一个问题让学生知道在古希腊女性不能参加奥运会，从而导入亚特兰大公主的故事。第二个问题配了一张美丽的亚特兰大公主的照片，很容易引起兴趣思考为什么很多男性愿意为她而死。Step 3 ReadingTask 1 Skimming（略读） Find out when, where, who and what happened.【设计意图】要求在限定时间内

8、快速浏览文章，找出故事的几大要素：时间、地点、人物和事件。Task 2 Scanning（寻读，跳读） Scan the text to answer some questions.【设计意图】本环节中问题的设置使得在完成任务的同时可以基本理清文章的脉络。另一方面，本环节中不管是主观题还是选择题的答案都是一个句子，为下一环节做准备。Step 4 RetellingRetell the story with some key words in the answers in Scanning.【设计意图】把Scanning的答案中的关键词呈现在屏幕上，用这些词串连复述故事。与以往的填空方式复述课文

9、相比，该方式不仅记忆了单词，而且训练了遣词造句的能力。 Step 5 Making dialoguesAsk students to work in pairs to make up two dialogues. 【设计意图】本环节要求充分发挥想象，在亚特兰大公主向她父王争取参加奥运机会和希波墨涅斯向爱神寻求帮助这两个故事情节中可能会出现什么样的对话，并与搭档表演对话。本环节的设计不仅训练了口语表达，而且对课文内容也融入了个人的独到见解。Step 6 Group-work: DiscussionWork in groups of four to discuss and report the ending to the story.
