2、k.,However, by buying a book instead, an individual will spend much less and may read it whenever he or she is free.,Whats more, knowledge gained from books has a wider range than that gained from experience.,Actually, reading books could enhance your personality, and it is also helpful to your read
3、ing ability.,In addition, what people see and hear during the journey is probably incomplete and partial, sometimes even wrong.,Finally, the depth of thoughts that form in a journey differs as travelers vary in intelligence and education background, which means traveling would be no more than an exp
4、erience of so called “eye feast” for some people.,There are always two methods to contact with new things, they are reading books and traveling. The discussion on whether traveling is more important than reading books or not to understand the people and the world is always seen in media and heard in
5、 public. Some agree with the point claiming that the knowledge we get from traveling is more practical than that from books. Reasonable though this view may be, I personally disagree with it. First of all, It cant be denied that traveling always costs far more than simply buying a book. For instance
6、, if one wants to get to know about New York, one has to book a flight ticket which may cost hundreds of dollars or so to travel across the ocean in order to get to the destination, let alone the cost of living there. For those who are busy with their work, it is not a wise choice to have a journey.
7、 However, by buying a book instead, an individual will spend much less. And if something very urgent happens suddenly, we can put down the book for a while and read it whenever we are free.,Whats more, knowledge gained from books has a wider range than that gained from experience. In libararies, we
8、can nearly learn everything only if we have aleady acquired basic reading skills. Sitting in the local library, we virtually can travel everywhere through an interesting geographic encyclopedia, and certainly with nearly no expenses at all. Therere so many books to choose from, some of which are eve
9、n masterpieces. Obviously, reading is a much better way in this example. Actually, reading books could enhance your personality, and it is also helpful to your reading ability. Just as the old saying goes, a good book will help you during your whole life.,In addition, what people see and hear during
10、 the journey is probably incomplete and partial, sometimes even wrong. Its hardly possible for travelers to understand the history and culture of an area in a hurried journey as the places they can reach and the local people that can be contacted with are only a small part of the whole, in other wor
11、ds, people cant obtain general and objective information about where they go. Perhaps their impression about that region is overly optimistic, or the other way around. Finally, the depth of thoughts that form in a journey differs as travelers vary in intelligence and education background, which mean
12、s traveling would be no more than an experience of so called eye feast for some people. But books can provide them the authors point of view about different aspects of a place and explanation for them. So to sum up, reading is a universally suitable access to get to know about people and world. I de
13、finitely cant agree with the statement that is given in the title.,It is exciting to visit different places. See the beautiful sceneries, know about the cultural heritage,The main reason why people prefer to travel is, perhaps, for pleasure. Work hard all the weekdays, enjoy the weekends, beach or m
14、ountain nearby, feel energetic again,Traveling is also one of the best means for learning. You may see many books, but you will never describe an accurate picture until you see it in person(亲身),It will cost so much that you have to force yourself to work hard to earn more money.
