abstractin recent year, the educational system plays an important role in our society. we can see many policies about the educational system can be proved. since the parents like sending their kids go abroad for further education, we began to compare the chinese educational system against the westerns.as the matter of fact, the argument about advantages and disadvantages between chinese education and western education is keeping on all the time. this question is also one major concern among those students who are considering going abroad. in order to find out the most suitable way for each individual, we shall gather more information and compare both matters in china and foreign countries.in this thesis, we will mainly discus the factors of what is the education system mainly about, why chapter one introduction1.1 research backgroundsince the opening up of the world, educational system became a controversial problem in our daily life. the compare of chinese educational system against westerns educational system has grown fast. at the beginning, people just admire the westerns educational system. they just blindly worship the westerns educational system. they just blindly send their kids to abroad for studying without knowing what is suitable for them. nowadays, we chinese think that students with sturdy foundation can receive further knowledge better. so most chinese parents think that the primary education in china is more stable than those western countries, and western high education is more mature than china. if students can have the combine of two education system, students could become comprehensive. that is why more and more chinese parents intend to send their children to foreign universities. at the meantime, chinese educational system has many loopholes. spoon-feed is a famous way when someone talking about the image of chinese educational system. so we want to discuss the difference between chinese educational system and the westerns. and make an improvement of it to reach or to exceed the standard of westerns not only the government but also the teachers. each nation has their expressional style in educational system. so what we need to do now is to improve our educational system not only obey the westerns. we chinese also have our concept of education for our kids.1.2 significance of the studythe thesis will be a significance education plan, which was supposed to be paid for by delaying one of the nasas space exploration programs-the constellation program for five years. those who keep an eye on obama and his proposal think he is a crazy man and debate whether education program is more important than space exploration or not. undoubtedly, space exploration is beneficial for humans future. however, education is the basic of the development of a country. therefore, education is the basic of the development of a country. therefore, as countries, they should realize the importance of education and give education top priority to take the country forward in an increasingly competitive world.whats more, knowledge can change ones destiny and every country is relying on the development of education nowadays. since advance the development of the country in the future.2.2. overview chinese educational systemwith a history of over 5, 000 years, china has a tradition of respecting teachers and honoring the teaching profession since ancient times, ancient chinese education not only played a significant role in passing down and developing chinese civilization, but also made tremendous contributions to the civilization of the world. however, modern chinese education was initiated about one hundred years ago when the country was undergoing drastic changes and it developed quite slowly in general and lagged far behind modern education of the world due to the semi-colonial and semi-feudal nature of chinese society.2.3. patten of chinese educational system in china, children begin to go to school at the age of seven; it takes them for six years to finish primary school. after primary school, the students will go to junior middle school without having to pass the exam. education at this level is compulsory, junior middle school education lasts for three years. for senior middle school students, it takes them for another three years. regarding college, senior middle school graduates have to pass competitive exam in order to enter college. the college education takes them for 4 years. and if they want to get further education, they will spend another 3-6 years for bachelor degree and master degree. though we will spend nearly 20 years finishing all the study. it is not necessary to achieve our desired results.2.4. the current situation of chinese educational systemthroughout the millennia, students of all ages in china have had to endure the miseries of learning by rote. teachers have stifled creativity in the pursuit of the accumulation of facts, and parents have forced children to spend mind-numbing hours cramming for exams.what has prompted the reforms is a belated recognition that chinas education system is failing to produce enough innovative thinkers. in addition, students are deeply unhappy. a survey conducted by the education ministry five years ago found more than 80% of students disliked school. dropout rates have been rising in rural areaspartly could be ushering in a new kind of relationship between the rulers and the ruled.2.5. the education system in the usa (representing western education)in the usa, children start school when they are five or six years old. depending on the state, schooling is compulsory until the age of 16 or 18.children younger than five can go to a nursery school or preschool.schools also offer optional courses from which the students can choose, e.g. art, modern languages, and computers. physical education is a very important subject in the united states-many students participate in sports programs.different kinds of schools: most students in the usa are enrolled in public schools. these are financed through taxes, so parents do not have to pay for their childrens education. about 10% of us students attend private schools, where parents have to pay a yearly fee. another option is homeschooling: approximately 1-2% of parents in the usa educate their children at home. some reasons focus on creativeness compared with chinese education system, western education system thinks highly of creativeness. western education system aim to cultivate student with creative mind and ability of independence western education system is good at excavating students potential abilities, and it respect students thought rather than the rigid form used in study. that is the major reason that the most percentage of nobel prize is achieved by western people.3.2 the method of chinese education the method of chinese education is a kind of traditional way to cultivate the new chinese generation, and the method of chinese education which is also called cramming。i am going to show more details about it.3.2.1 the way of teachinggenerally speaking, the chinese teachers are the centre of the class and all students in class listen to them. in our country, maybe most of us may have a negative acceptance from our teachers teaching. teachers teaching in china sometimes is called the nursery maid, educational system.3.2.3 classroom activity originally, the classrooms activities aim at stimulating the interests of students in their learning, active class atmosphere can also help us to have a better understanding of what we ought to learn. on the contrary, in china, the classroom activities are a lack of, old-fashioned, inflexible and almost boring, these activities are only held in form, and dispensable so certainly we cannot get more from them. all students only listen carefully to the teacher .whats more, if students have another different opinion , they need to put up their hand to gain allowance from teacher , then they have right to speak out their ideas.3.2.4 homework and the way of doing it though our society has come up with a so-called policy” to lighter the burden of the students”, we still have a number of homework to deal with. in addition, almost all the homework is a kind of simple repeat which has no use or practical meaning for our students. in order to finish the homework, students have to spend most of their spare time on their homework. if without enough time, they have to copy the others. with too much homework to do, it means that students have to lessen the spare time on their interest and self-development. it is no doubt that the mechanical homework has limited students specialties in other fields, so it is harmful for students individual development. most of them spend their time on homework, so they have less time to learn how to live from their parents, consequently, they dont know cooking, washing clothes, doing housework in their independent i suppose, some reasonable homework is necessary; however we should change the form or the way of doing it. if we make the form more enjoyable, if we make the way more various. everything will go better. 3.2.5 classes and courses availablein china, each of the students has a regular class and each class has its own fixed classroom. neither the class nor the classroom changes frequently. actually, classes and classrooms seldom change in primary as well as in middle schools. what is worse, there are also a lack of courses which are available for students to choose. the schools often offer the students courses which would be one of the subjects to test in a diversity of examinations. so, students may feel very boring of the courses and finally lose their interests of
