禁忌语是语言交际中应予以避讳的话语，但在特定的语境下，恰当地使用禁忌语不 但不会引起交流障碍，反而还能达到常规用语无法企及的语用效果。然而，由于禁忌语 的敏感性，对于它的研究在语言学领域很少，而且早期对禁忌语的研究大部分局限与人 类学、民俗学、心理学和社会语言学中。本文在前人研究成果的基础上，试图从一个新 的角度对这一领域作探索性的研究，即运用比利时语言学家j e f v c 璐c h u e r e n 提出的语用 学新理论顺应论( 1 1 l e o r yo f a d a 邮撕o n ) 分析英文电影中禁忌语的语用效果。 本文首先回顾了前人对于禁忌语的研究，并在此基础上进一步阐述了在语境中研究 英语禁忌语的必要性以及本文所采用的研究方法和研究目的。然后，从禁忌语的定义、 分类、特征以及功能方面对禁忌语做了较为系统的论述，为其在具体的交际语境中的语 用效果的探索奠定了基础。 根据v e r s c h u e r e n 的顺应理论，使用语言的过程即选择语言的过程。语言在选择过 程中从不同程度上受使用者的心理意识、社会规约和时空变化的影响，并在运用中顺应 这些因素。顺应论包括四个研究视角，即语境关系的顺应、语言结构的顺应、顺应的动 态性和顺应的意识程度，为该研究提供了强有力的理论支撑。本文以语境关系的顺应作 为主要视角对英语禁忌语的语用效果展开研究。 按照顺应论，英语禁忌语的使用是一种有意识而非无意识的选择。该选择是一个不 断顺应交际语境，即说话者在选择语言的过程中必须顺应使用者( 职业、文化水平以及 交际者问的关系) 、心理世界( 个性和情感) 、社交世界( 社会地位、社会规约以及社会 机构) 和物理世界( 时空方位) 的动态过程。英语禁忌语的选择使用在不同程度上顺应 了以上各个因素，从而有效地实现了交际目的并产生了特殊的语用效果，如：简单陈述、 加强语气、抒发( 发泄) 情感和活跃气氛等。 本文从顺应论的角度对英文电影中的禁忌语作了较为系统的研究，在拓宽语言学研 究领域的同时，为英语禁忌语的恰当使用和英语的学习提出了有建设性的指导。最后， 还指出了本研究的不足，并对英语禁忌语的日后的研究提出了建议。 关键词：禁忌语；顺应论；语用效果 山东大学硕士学位论文 c
