a survey of college studentsliving expenses1. introduction the living expenses is closely linked with us . it provides us food, clothing, entertainment and other life security. so ,how to make full of the limit living expenses becomes a very important issue for the college students. for that purpose, the present survey is made.1.1 purpose the survey sets its goal at investigating how well the college students can take advantage of the living expenses every month . though knowing more about the daily income and consumption of college students, we can provide more certain reference for the college and some true date about the college students consumer market.1.2 subjects in order to make the survey more persuasive, we did the research among students in our college including four grades, 110copies of questionnaires in total were handed out and 105were collected back which are effective. interviewees are from different majors and different grades. 50 of them are freshmen, 35 are sophomore, 15 are junior students, 5are senior students .1.3 time and place time: the survey takes about two days, from may 16th to may 20th 2011. the questionnaires were distributed on may 17th and collected back on may 18th . place: hebei polytechnic university college of light industry.1.4 instrument questionnaires are used to collect data. considering the questionnaire in english may bring some trouble to the interviewees with different english levels, we adopt the chinese version instead of the english one. the interviewees are selected at random to make the data more reliable. for instance, the questionnaires are given to the students studying in classrooms and to those staying in dormitories. whats more, students from all grades are made sure to participate in this investigation.2. data collection and analysis on17th november, we investigated 110students, among whom 105 returned their questionnaires. the rest did not return or finish for some reasons. to ensure the validity of the survey, the four members in our team were divided into two groups to hand out the questionnaires, going to different places and investigating different students. most of the interviewees were willingly to help us with the survey. they finished the questionnaires carefully. among the questionnaires returned, some questions were not answered, and some were answered casually, which brought us some trouble when we did the data collection. in general, most of the information we collected was useful and accurate.2.1 data analysis on the level of the living expenses the analysis on the level of the living expenses includes three samples :the general ,the boy ,the girl.2.1.1 general living expenses level table 1 frequency distribution listpayfrequencypercent300以下54.76%3005001514.28%5008003129.52%80010002523.81%100015002019.05%1500以上43.81 %total105100.00%according to this table ,we can see the most of college students living expenses ranges from 500-800.2.1.2 boys level the number(1,2,3,4,5,6) is corresponding to the different cost level. the diagram shows that the range 500-800 takes up the most proportion.2.1.3 girls level datafrequencypercent300元以下132.26%300元400元21715.04%400元500元33642.11%500元600元43266.17%600元700元51678.20%700元以上629100.00%others0100.00%the cost of girls is maily from 500-600.2.1.4 different grades level according to different data analysis ,we conclud the below table about different grades.in order to help you understand it clearly, we plus the different sex.sexfreshmansophmorejuniorseniorboys596.1538655.8824756.45161706.09756girls533.871650743.75756.666671) the boys always beyond the girls,but there is exception in the senior.2) the higher grade students spend more money than the lower.2.2 the analysis on the source the questionnaire designs four kinds of source about the living expenses, such as parents, part time job,scholarship, school and society allowance.next ,we can analize it in some aspects.2.2.1 the general main cost sourcessourcesfrequencypercent1.parents6886%2job205%3scholarship101%4allowance70.2%合计105we can see the parents support is the main source among the college students cost.2.2.2 the boys and girls specific source and the contrast1parents22986.42%2job2194.34%3scholarship1298.87%4、allowence3100.00%total265other001parents12090.23%2job694.74%3 scholarship7100.00%4allowence0100.00%other0100.00%the contrast notices：the inner circle is boys，the outer circle is girlsfrom the contrast ,we see the main source about boys, parents is the highest proportion 83%.by contrast, the girls in major sources of the highest proportion of parents as a ratio of 90%, in addition, the boy work-study frequency ratio (11%) more girls frequency ratio (5%) much higher;
