Linguistic sexism in English and Chinese language mainly reflected in proverbs, expressions, vocabulary and the meanings of words. In chapter 1, the general information of linguistic sexism will be given in two aspectsthe definition and the cause. Chapter 2 mainly talks about linguistic sexism in vocabulary in both Chinese and English and the comparison between them. Chapter 3 is about linguistic sexism in literature works, one from China and one from the English speaking country. Nowadays, a majority of the studies on linguistic sexism are about one typical aspect of the language, such as the appellation, the typical vocabulary and the idioms in both English and Chinese (Xue qiong, 2009). Other researches have focused on the linguistic sexism in literature works (Liu Dihui, 2009) . Few studies have analyzed the influence linguistic sexism had on the society and history (Lakoff R , 1973) . Therefore, this study tries to analyse the Linguistic sexism in both Chinese and English and the distinction of them in order to show that linguistic sexism has influenced a lot in the whole society through the history.学术价值和现实意义Sexism in English language has launched along with the fast development of Womens Liberation Movement since the end of 1960s. Since 1960s, feminists strive for the elimination of gender discrimination, for the greater recognition of womens contributions to the society and aim to change many cultural and social customs that relate to value systems. Many fields of life around the world have been, or are being, affected by this movement. One of the many impacts feminism have on the society is its impact on language. Language was and is seen by many feminists as a powerful instrument.The article analyzes the influence of linguistic sexism in English and Chinese mainly from the aspects of daliy life vocabulary and literature works. It will provide some significance for language teaching and learning, and also for cross-cultural communication. And the thesis will show what an important role the linguistic sexism has played in the change of Womens status around the world.
