专题能力训练十三阅读理解(四)A(2017天津卷,B)Fifteen years ago,I took a summer vacation in Lecce in southern Italy. After climbing up a hill for a panoramic(全景的) view of the blue sea, white buildings and green olive trees,I paused to catch my breath and then positioned myself to take the best photo of this panorama.Unfortunately, just as I took out my camera,a woman approached from behind, and planted herself right in front of my view.Like me,this woman was here to stop, sigh and appreciate the view.Patient as I was, after about 15 minutes,my camera scanning the sun and reviewing the shot I would eventually take,I grew frustrated. Was it too much to ask her to move so I could take just one picture of the landscape?Sure,I could have asked her,but something prevented me from doing so.She seemed so content in her observation.I didnt want to mess with that.Another 15 minutes passed and I grew bored. The woman was still there.I decided to take the photo anyway. And now when I look at it,I think her presence in the photo is what makes the image interesting. The landscape, beautiful on its own, somehow comes to life and breathes because this woman is engaging with it.This photo, with the unique beauty that unfolded before me and that woman who “ruined” it,now hangs on a wall in my bedroom. What would she think if she knew that her figure is captured(捕捉) and frozen on some strangers bedroom wall?A bedroom, after all,is a very private space,in which some woman I dont even know has been immortalized(使永存).In some ways, she lives in my house.Perhaps we all live in each others spaces.Perhaps this is what photos are for:to remind us that we all appreciate beauty, that we all share a common desire for pleasure, for connection, for something that is greater than us.That photo is a reminder,a captured moment,an unspoken conversation between two women, separated only by a thin square of glass.【语篇导读】本文为一篇记叙文。 1.What world had been completely dark and quiet for Robert Edwards for almost ten years, for he became both blind and deaf. The loss of sight and hearing threw him into such sorrow that he tried a few times to put an end to his life. His family, especially his wife, did their best to tend and comfort him and finally he regained the will to live on.One hot summer afternoon,he was taking a walk with a stick near his house when a thunderstorm started all at once.He stood under a large tree to avoid getting wet,but he was struck by the lightning.Witnesses thought he was dead but he woke up some 20 minutes later lying face down in muddy water at the base of the tree.He was trembling badly, but when he opened his eyes,he could hardly believe what he saw:a plough lying near the wall. When Mrs.Edwards came running up to him, shouting to their neighbors to call for help,he could see her and hear her voice for the first time in nearly ten years. The news of Roberts regaining his sight and hearing quickly spread, and many doctors came to examine him. Most of them said that he regained his sight and hearing from the shock he got from the lightning. However, none of them could give a convincing answer as to why this should have happened. The only reasonable explanation given by one doctor was that, since Robert lost his sight and hearing as a result of a sudden shock, perhaps, the only way for him to regain them was by another sudden shock.【语篇导读】文章讲述罗伯特因为受到电击而失明失聪,生活在黑暗寂静的世界里。 6.The reason for Roberts attempts to kill himself versus the benefit. At that point I knew it was a completely stupid idea. What I wanted to buy was an older car to have in addition to my four-year-old Smart Car that I absolutely like.So you wonder,if I like the Smart Car,why would I want to have another car as well? The reason is.grandkids.I have several and in the Smart Car I can only have one passenger(Its a two-seater).Besides,one of my daughters-in-law does not trust the Smart Car as a vehicle for her daughter Lily to ride in,so thats one little girl I cant take anywhere at all.My husband also has a carand a truckbut I have driven the truck only a couple of times in the years weve had it and I have not driven his year-old car at all.So thats why I had the stupid idea to buy an old Toyota I found on the lot of an honest used car salesman.Thank heavens I came to my senses before I spent $8,000 to buy it,$80 or so to license it and probably $500 to insure it for a year.It would be senseless to buy that car.My grandkids just have to continue to come with me one by one.I cant take two girls out to lunch or two girls shopping or pick up the brother and sister that live in the same house. As for the little one thats not allowed to ride with me.well,Grandpa will have to pick her up.As for me,I didnt get money in my savings account by being totally stupid.Sure, doing things with the kids is fun,but spending that kind of money to put two or more of them in a groupwhich would probably drive me crazy anywayis really dumb.Sometimes temptation can prove that you still have a little sense.Whew! That was close.【语篇导读】本文是记叙文。作者本想买一辆二手车,但经过深思熟虑后,最终放弃了这个想法。11.Why did the author want to buy a car?A.Her Smart Car is in poor condition.B.She wanted to replace her Smart Car.C.Her daughter-in-law asked her to seen that dog around here before.”We looked down the hill and saw an old black dog stumbling(蹒跚) painfully up the hill.We bent down, talked gently to the dog and patted it.I checked and there was a collar. There was a phone number on the collar, but no one answered. The dog was painfully thin.It didnt have many teeth left.Julie ran home to get some of our dogs food while I tried to encourage the dog to come along with me.Julie got home and back again when I was only halfway there. So,we sat down on the sidewalk while our new friend made short work of the food.Eventually we got her home.We gave her a blanket and more food, kept her warm and wondered what to do next. After trying for many times we got a response from the number.A lady came around with a bunch of flowers for us.She explained that Tara had been her fathers dog.She was very old and should probably be put to sleep, but the lady just couldnt bring herself to do it.So,Tara was safely returned home. Here is the truth of the story:Actually Julie and I were out that morning because I was leaving. She was trying to persuade me to come back, but I wasnt hearing anything.I was about to turn and go when an old,worn-out dog walked between us and collapsed.Suddenly we had something more important than our problem to worry about. There was a creature in need right before us and we had to work together to help it.We did help it.And here I am writing the story in my own home,in my own family. In the song “Love Is Not a Fight” Warren Barfield talks about marriage. At one point he sings,“And if we try to leave, may God send angels to guard the door.”Sometimes angels come disguised(假扮) as dogs.【语篇导读】作者和妻子把
