The more I did these tasks, the more I felt separated from the seniors. I felt bad for them;therefore, I did not want to stay with them. Then one rainy day, I met Colonel Hemsworth. He came to me and asked for some company. I regarded this as another boring task. However, when I listened to his stories, I learned that he was a brilliant soldier, and I found his tales interesting. After my brief talk with Colonel, I realized that I shared common characters with all the seniors. I_felt_like_an_oxygen_molecule_(分子)ready_to_bondrather_than_an_isolated_noble_gas.I met many learned senior citizens who shared their experiences and wisdom. All of the seniors provided a new view on life. No longer did I walk blindly down the hallways (走廊). I found myself enjoying talking with these people as I learned their histories. Why hadnt I realized sooner that volunteer work could inspire me?Some people argue that volunteering and working for change does not help. However they fail to realize that the world is constantly changing and humans must adapt. My experience at Weyrich Health Center has taught me that refusing to change ones views and accept new views leads to shortterm goals that eventually cant be achieved. Communication with others is a vital part of life. Volunteering is not just a requirement or a way to build up your resume (简历);it is a time for service and personal growth. Now I enjoy my volunteering time surrounded by the seniors who bring histories alive for me. By communicating with them, I have developed into a more energetic person. 1Whats the authors attitude towards volunteering at first?APositive.BUnwilling.CCurious.DSatisfied. 根据第一段“Back in freshman, I found myself wondering whether it should really be called “volunteering” if students only do it because they have to.” B2What can we infer from the underlined sentence?AThe author had desired to communicate with the seniors.BThe author wanted to do the chemical experiment with gases.CThe author imagined himself to be part of an isolated gas.DThe author would like to be an oxygen molecule. A3The experience of volunteering made the author _.Afail to realize that the world was constantly changingBthink communication was a small part of lifeCrealize that the lessons he learned from it made a big difference to himDwalk blindly and unable to finish his shortterm goal解析推理判断题。根据倒数第二段尤其是该段的最后一句“Volunteering is not just a requirement or a way to build up your resume (简历);it is a time for service and personal growth.” C4Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?AThe author finally realized communication was not as important as personal growth.BThe experience with the soldier was not as meaningful as the author thought.CThe author thought volunteering is only a way to strengthen his resume.DColonel Hemsworth invited the author to accompany him. 根据第三段的“Then one rainy day, I met Colonel Hemsworth.
