Some kids at school said I wasnt good enough to be an opera singer. 学校的一些孩子们说我唱得没那么好,不可以成为一名歌手。 1) enough 作副词,可以修饰形容词或副词,但必须后置。 eg. 他走得够慢的了。 He walks slowly enough. enough to do sth. 足够可以做 Tom足够大可以去上学。 Tom is old enough to go to school.,Language points,2. Some kids at school said I wasnt good enough to be an opera singer. 学校的一些孩子们说我唱得没那么好,不可以成为一名歌手。 2) enough 作形容词作定语,可修饰复数可数名词或不可数名词,常常放在被修饰的名词前。 eg.我有足够的时间来完成这项工作。 I have enough time to finish the work.,Language points,3. They said I should be something else. 他们说我应该成为别的什么。(他们说我应该朝别的方向努力。) else (与不定代词、疑问代词或副词连用) 意思是“除(已提到的) 以外;另外;其他” eg. 你还有别的事吗? Do you have anything else? 谁还想要唱这首英文歌? I just failed my English paper. 我刚刚英语考试不及格。 fail 是动词,意思是“失败” If you dont work hard, you may fail. 如果你不努力,就有可能失败。 拓展:fail (in) sth.意为 “在某事上失败” 昨天我考试(exam)不及格。 I failed (in) the exam yesterday. fail to do sth.
