Teaching ProceduresStep 1. Greet the class and meet them.1. Meet the students by asking “Whats your name?” “Nice to meet you!” etc.2. Ask the students these questions: What do you often do on Sundays? Do you often help your parents to do chores? etc.Step 2. Revision and new words teaching1. Showing some pictures, revise some verb phrases the students learned last class.2. Ask the students these questions: What are they doing? How often do you do these things? (At the same time, explain some new verb phrases: do chores / do the laundry.)3. Play the game. Chain drills. Which group can ask and answer the most questions with different verb phrases?Step 3. Pair work (Activity 2c)Student A, you are Peter, ask if you can do things. Student B, you are Peters father. Say “Yes” or “No”. If you say “No”, give a reason.1. Point out the sample conversation. Ask two students (A and B) to read it to the class.(Explain work on. )2. What other things might Peter ask his father about? Make a new conversation with your partner.3. After several minutes, ask several pairs to act out their conversations to the class.Step 4. Fill in the blanks (Activity 3a)Fill in the blanks with “make” or “do”.1. Ask students to fill in each blank with the word “make” or “do”.2. Have two students read the conversation to the class.3. Show some verb phrases start with “do” and “make” on the screen. Ask the students to recite them.Step 5. Practice and writing (Activity 3b)1. Show some pictures about chores on the screen, teach the students how to do this activity: Choose one picture and ask your partner to do the chore, your partner says “No” and gives a reason.2. Invite some students to work in pairs and play the game.Step 7. Grammar Focus1. Write these two headings on the board a few feet apart: Could you please and Could I please. Ask different students to write several complete questions starting with these words under each heading.2. Show the grammar focus on the screen. Explain if we make a polite request that another person do something, we use “Could you please ?” If we ask for permission to do something or go somewhere, we use “Could I please? ”3. Divide the students into two groups, read the sentences in Grammar Focus loudly. Pay attention to each answer.Step 8. Homework1. Listen and read the words and conversations in Unit 11 (Section A)2. If you want to go to a good friends birthday party this evening, try to ask your parents about it politely.
