Greeting: Good morning, class. Whose turn is it today?2. Warm-up What are you like? I think Im creative and outgoing. confident / energetic / shy / easygoing / quiet / wild / kind / creativegenerous / selfish / humorous3. Section 1 Before you read1a. This activity encourage students to consider the difference betweenan accident and a problem, and how accidents happen and what problem teenagers face.Draw a picture of a sad face on the board Ask the students what things in their lives make them sad. Reading StrategyThe brain never stops taking in information. We often know a lot more than we think we know. When we are faced with a task or a new situation, we need to use the knowledge stored in our brain to deal with it. Teachers should always find out what students know before telling them new information.5. Section 2 While you read实施教学过程设计Ask students to look at the artwork and the cartoon, and then draw on their knowledge to say what this reading is. Answer: Two pages from a book giving advice about accidents and problems Ask half the class to be the Question and the other half to be the Doctors answer. Read Page 19 aloud together. Students change roles for Page 45 and read aloud the Problems and Advice.Ask students to repeat the reading aloud in pairs, changing over for each page.6. Section 3 After you read3a. This activity show the knowledge and common sense students already have. Ask students to pool the knowledge they have to answer the two questions.Discuss the answers. Suggested Answers:1. Burns are the result of an excess(过量) of heat. And the skin continues to burn, so cold water will stop the burning.2. Because its always better to have more than one person present if you feel you might be in danger. A criminal (罪犯,犯人) is less likely(很可能) to commit a crime(犯罪)in public or when there are several people around.3b. This activity develops the students ability to consider, and rank according to knowledge Ask students to go through the accidents mentioned in the reading, and discuss how serious each one is. Agree on the ranking 1-4 with your group. Repeat with the problems mentioned in the reading.3c.This activity asks students to personalize the information and talk about their own experience. Ask each student to answer the question and check or not check the box. Have a class discussion to see how many students share the same experience, and followed the advice given in the book.7.
