Unit7 What does he look like ? Period 3of Section A说课稿My topic is “What does he look like ?” .It is from go for it ,Book 1,Unit 7 period 3 of Section A . First , Ill talk about my understanding of this teaching material .In this unit ,we mainly talk about peoples appearances . This is the third lesson in this unit .In last two lessons ,students talk about peoples height , build , hair ,face and so on by using sentences “What does he/ she look like ?”“He / She is /has ”. So the key points in this lesson is how to describe peoples looks ,and develop students abilities of reading , speaking and writing . In order to get to the aims of learning , I decide to choose the autonomic learning method and cooperation learning method .There are six steps in the lesson . Step 1 Warming-up (2 min)Play a guessing game . Let two students “use He/ She is /has ”to describe their classmates , but dont tell them their names .Then ask other students to guess . ( Purpose of my designing : I think its important to form a better English surrounding for the students and its necessary to provide real situation to review learned knowledge. And the game can make students more interested in what they are going to learn .)Step 2 Lead-in (1 min) Show four pictures of my friends. Lets see how I describe them . Look at 3a in Section A . Step 3 Reading (5 min) Give students 5 minutes to read by themselves ,and try to understand the meaning of four short passages in 3a and find some important phrases and sentences . When they have difficulties in reading they should mark them . ( Purpose of my designing : Reading by themselves is useful for independent thinking . While reading ,I give them three tasks . Task 1 Master the meaning of the passage ; Task 2 Find important phrases and sentences ; Task3 Find the problems in the passage .)Step 4 Discussion (15 min) After learning alone , they have 10 minutes to to communication with partners or group members .Everyone should show the difficulties what they marked . And discuss them . If they cant solve the problem ,they can write it down and hand in . Later we can try to solve it in class .( Purpose of my designing :Discussion is a good way to solve problem . When students discuss , they can also train their ability of expression . There are two parts in the discussion: teaching each other and discuss in group .)Step 4 Practice (10 min)1. Ask students to match the passage to the pictures in 3a .2. Answer some questions on the screen (1) Who is the captain of the basketball team ?(2) Does Mary have short straight brown hair ?(3) Is Xu Qian a little bit quiet ?(4) What does Mike like doing?( Purpose of my designing : Use the practice to check if the students master the passages )Step 5 Survey and report (10分钟)Make a survey: What does your best friend look like? What does he/she like doing?Fill in the blanks:namefriends nameishaswearslikesJimPetertallshort haira black coatreadingThen do a report like this : Im Jim . Peter is my best friend .
