t s 艾略特荒原汉译比较研究 外国语言学及应用语言学专业 研究生朱晓黎指导教师朱徽 荒原是t s 艾略特( 1 8 8 8 - 1 9 6 5 ) 最具有代表性的诗歌，代表了 英美现代派诗歌艺术的最高成就。因其繁杂诡异的意象、丰富的象征、 灵活的笔调、富于表现力的音韵等，而被誉为“西方现代派诗歌的里程 碑”，开启了英语诗歌发展的新方向。1 9 2 2 年荒原的发表确立了t s 艾略特作为英语现代派诗歌一代大师的地位，使他在世界诗坛“领导并开 创了一个新纪元”。 自从荒原第一次被介绍到中国以来，中国读书界和翻译界对它 一直热情未减( 二十世纪五十年代到七十年代中国大陆那段特殊时期除 外) 。早在上世纪三十年代，荒原就有了第一个汉译本。特别是新时 期以来，仅在中国大陆笔者发现的汉译就有十多种。在台湾，荒原也 是译者特别青睐的现代派诗歌之一，其中最有代表性，在台湾文学界影 响比较大的译本不下五、六种。这一现象在外国文学汉译史上是不多见 的。比较和分析不同历史时期、文化背景下的翻译现象和外国经典作品 的多种汉译本之间的异同，不仅能检视中国的翻译水平，也能为当今的 翻译研究提供新的视角。 但是到目前为止，国内对于荒原在中国的翻译研究还远远不够。 据笔者搜集到的资料来看，关于荒原汉译的文章不过四、五篇，更 谈不上专门论述荒原汉译的专著了。本文在前人研究的基础上，试 图运用意识形态理论和接受美学，从历时与共时两个方面比较荒原 的四个主要译本，通过比较不同时期同一译者对同一部作品翻译之间的 异同来阐明不同时期接受语境、文学发展和读者期待视野对译本的制约 和影响；同时通过比较同一时期处于不同社会背景中的译者对同一部作 品的翻译，揭示不同社会的意识形态对文学翻译和译者主体性的操控。 除引言和结语外，本文共分为四个部分。 引言扼要地介绍了本文的学术价值、研究现状、基本思路、研究方 法和章节构成； 第一章介绍了荒原的创作过程、艺术特色、在西方现代派诗歌 中的地位，以及主要的汉译本及其研究现状； 第二章简要回顾了荒原在中国的黼译历程，通过搜集和整理资 料，从三、四十年代对t s 艾略特的零星译介为荒原的汉译创造了 有利的接受语境开始，梳理出荒原在中国( 包括台湾) 翻译的概貌； 在梳理概貌的同时，探讨荒原在中国不同时期翻译的情况及其历史 文化原由，指出意识形态、文化语境与文学翻译的关系； 第三章以赵萝蕤的两个译本以及裘小龙、杜若洲的译本为例，运用 “新批评”中的细读法，通过比较译文和原文，指出了这些译本的异同， 并分析了导致误译的种种因素；通过分析和比较不同的译文，阐述了译 者在翻译中的主体作用。 第四章全面回顾、总结和反思荒原在中国的翻译历程，通过比
