英语委婉语的象似性分析专业：英语语言文学方向：语言学研究生：苏艳指导教师：魏光琴摘要：委婉语作为一种语言中的普遍现象，一直受到语言学界的关注。众多语言学家和学者从不同角度对委婉语进行了研究，如：修辞学，语义学，社会语言学和语用学等角度，并取得了丰硕的成果，但这些研究都只是描述性的研究。为了解释英语委婉语的构造机制，有必要采用一个新的角度。二十世纪八十年代末形成的认知语言学是基于人们对世界的经验和对世界进行感知和概念化的方法来进行研究语言的学科。而象似性作为认知语言学的一个重要理论，对揭示认知和语言结构的关系以及人类思维的共性具有重要意义。象似性也能为语言现象提供合理的解释而不仅仅是描述。本文以象似性的理论为基础，通过发掘英语委婉语的语言形式结构和概念结构的三种映照关系，来解释英语委婉语的构造机制和认知动机。这三种映照关系也就是象似性原则，它们是：距离象似性原则，数量象似性原则和标记象似性原则。基于这些象似性原则对英语委婉语进行分析，我们发现在英语委婉语的不同层面都有象似性的存在。在词汇层面有数量象似性。在句法层面三种象似性都有：距离象似性在句子层面体现为转移否定，致使结构和过去式的运用；数量象似性体现为模糊限制语的运用，迂回说法和省略；标记象似性体现为虚拟语气和疑问句式。在语篇层面，距离象似性体现为间i接式布局，数量象似性体现在使用更多的语句，标记象似性体现在从好消息到坏消息的写作顺序上。在语用层面，距离象似性体现为社会距离的表达，数量象似性体现在对别人要求的大小上。分析表明象似性能够为英语委婉语的构成机制提供更合理的解释。从这个角度研究语言也有助于使语言学习和教学更有意义和高效。关键词：英语委婉语象似性象似性原则认知i
