境贫苦，很小就开始赚钱谋生，正是他丰富的社会阅历，帮助他花费七年多时间 创作出其在世期间唯一一部长篇小说看不见的人。该小说自1 9 5 2 年出版后， 在美国文学界和美国社会引起了巨大反响。1 9 5 3 年他相继获得美国国家图书奖 和普利策奖，1 9 6 5 年又被评为美国二战以来最重要、最有影响的小说，从而一 举奠定了他在美国文学史上的地位。国内外对看不见的人有许多研究，大多 集中在民族融合大方向上，另外也有一些研究集中在他的写作手和象征法运用 上。本文主要研究埃里森笔下的黑人生存困惑。 引言部分首先简要介绍了拉尔夫埃早森及其作品，同时还对国内外拉尔夫 埃罩森的研究状况及成果作了简要回顾，最后提出本文的中心论点。 本论文的主体部分由三章构成。第一章从美国黑人对于自身的社会地位和社 会身份困惑写起，通过三种对自身社会地位、身份有完全不同认识的黑人群体分 析，阐述美国黑人对于自身种族的生存困惑。 第二章首先论述黑人被基督化的过程及历史，进而分析两类对基督化不同态 度的黑人在美国社会中的处境，指出他们对被基督化，也就是宗教领域的困惑。 紧接着借助埃里森笔下的布鲁斯黑人音乐，及其圣歌，分析出他们时而对生存的 无奈，时而产生的强烈反抗情绪。 第三章重点分析美国主流文化和黑人的非主流文化，提出非主流文化融入主
