经济、科学、技术和教育领域发生了巨大的变化。大量的英汉新词也随着社会 生活中出现的新事物、新观念而产生。新词是一种很重要的语言和社会现象， 对它的研究具有非常重要的意义。 本文概述了新词的相关理论，如定义，分类，特点和语用等，在对文献综 述的基础上，阐述了研究英汉新词的意义和目的，着重探讨英汉新词的来源和 发展。研究发现，新词产生是通过构词法、旧词附新义和借刚外来词汇等途径。 新词的发展受到多元因素的影响，包括社会因素，文化因素和语言因素。英汉 新词是语言因素和社会、文化因素相互作用的结果。语言随着社会的变化而发 展，词汇对社会的变化最为敏感，社会、文化的发展变化是新词产生和发展主 要的推动力量。另一方面，英汉新词也呈现出新的发展趋势，表现为新词数量 日益增多，新词来源更为广泛，新词形式更加简洁，更多的使用委婉语。 物、新概念、新思维等而出现在书面语及口语中，表义明确、利于交际的词汇。二十世纪八 十年代以来，世界进入信息时代，科学技术以前所未有的速度向前发展，世界政治、经济、 文化等领域发生了巨大交化。与此同时，中国进行了一系列的政治、经济体制改革，社会各 方面发生了惊人的变化。因此，英汉语都出现了大量的新词。词汇历来是外语学习和外语教 学中的难点，新词属于词汇发展变化的最前沿，其学习难度不言而喻。因此，本文试图从词 汇学和社会语言学的角度对英汉语新词的来源与发展进行比较研究，找出一些语言的规律， 旨在帮助英语学习者了解不同语言之间的相同点，加深对新词的认识，扩大词汇量，同时也 帮助英语教师预测新词的发展和发现新词的发展趋势。 本文共包含5 个章节。第一章是论文的引言，界定了新词的定义，分类，特点和语用等， 并简要介绍了全文各个章节的要点。新词是一种常见的语言现象，长期以来，语占学家和语 言使用者都一直对其深感兴趣。但是国内外著名专家和学者对新词的定义和观点一直存有争 议。在对新词不同定义和观点的分析基础上，本文综合地提出了新词的定义，即，新词是指 仍在使用中的新创词和获得新意的旧词。从构词法的角度，新词可以分为新创词，词义变化 的新词和外来语新词：从它们的功能来看，新词可以分为所指新词和表达新词；从新词的语 域来看，它们涉及政治、经济、科技、教育和社会的其他方面。由于旧词需要新词的补充以 此符合语言和社会的发展，新词具有公用性，动态性，共时性，惯例性，和可预测性的特点。 新词的产生基于两个语用原则；惯例原则和比较原则。 第二章是文献综述。作者介绍了国内外英汉新词的研究状况，强调了英汉语新词研究的 币璎性和研究同的。英语和汉语的新词研究起步不同。真正意义卜的英语新词研究始于2 0 卅 纪初，到2 0 世纪7 0 年代开始迅速发展，新词的研究经历了一个不断完善的过程。国外英语 新词研究代表人物是l e o nm e a d ，d w i g h tb o l i n g e r ，j o h n a l g e o 等，汉语新词研究的代表人物 是吕叔湘，陈原，王铁昆，李建国等。其中，吕叔湘先生“大家来关心新词新义”的呼吁， 引发了汉语新词研究的高潮。 我们知道，英语和汉语是属于不同语系和语族的非亲属语言，这就造成了英语新词学习 的困难。那我们能否找出英汉两种语言的共性，通过对比分析，帮助外语学习者更好的了解 新词的构词规律和发展规律，促进英语学习? 作者在本章的结尾提出了本研究的目的。 第三章集中介绍本研究内容，详细地探讨了新词的来源。新词的产生是通过构词法，旧 词附新义和借用外来词汇都等途径。在构词法中，英汉语的相同点是，复合法、加缀法和缩 略法是英汉语中最活跃的构词方法。但每一种方法在这两种语言中的作用不尽相同。复合法 是两种语言中最活跃的构词方法，但其作用在汉语中相对较大。而加缀法在英语中比汉语中 起的作用要大。缩略法的作用在英汉语中则相似。每种方法构成的新词结构特点不同。英语 词缀和缩略词是由音节转化而成的，汉语则是有独立意义的汉字转化而成。通过对新词构词 法的分析，我们可以得出这样的结论，新词的构成有规律可循，即使是不同的语言，也有相 似的规则。 第四章讨论了影响新词发展的多元因素，包括社会因素，文化因素和语言因素。英汉新 词是语言因素和社会、文化因素相互作用的结果。社会、文化的发展变化是新词产生和发展 主要的推动力量。随之产生的大量的英汉语新词反映了社会的快速发展和多元文化的融合。 社会、文化的发展变化是新词产生的主要推动力量。在所有社会因素当中，最具影响力的是 科学技术的发展，政治、经济的变化及人们日常生活的多样化。与此同时，日益增长的全球 化趋势使得中国人在许多方面观点与西方人越来越趋于一致，人们的宽容开放，求简创新和 文化的认同心理是推动英汉语新词发展的文化因素，这一点在英汉语新词中得以体现。 第五章总结了本研究要点及其对于英语教学的意义，并对新词的未来发展做了预测。新 词发展的趋势表现在四个方面。首先，新词的数量日益增多。电脑、因特网、新闻媒体的普 及和进步使世界变得越来越小，人们每时每刻地都能知道世界各地的消息，而世界各国的政 治、经济、军事、文化情况都会给英汉语带来大量的新词。第二，新词来源更加广泛。在日 益全球化的趋势下，世界上2 0 0 多个国家和地区的几千种语言，每年都在进行着大量的跨语 言文化的词语转换，即生成符合本民族词汇系统的外来词。因此，外来新词都将出现激增的 趋势。第三，新词形式更加简洁。现在人们的生活和工作节奏很快，语言的简单化是当今英 汉语的一个普遍趋势。人们通常使用简单的词语来表达自己，以方便沟通。所以会有大量的 瓤词语以简单的形式或其他缩写形式出现。第四，新词会出现更多的委婉语。在语言使用过 程中，当人们谈论那些令人不快或尴尬的事情时，都使用较为礼貌的说法。为了表现文明、 高雅，在推敲用词方面煞费苦心，于是大量的委婉语将会相继出现。 同时，作者还提出本文的局限性和未来研究方向。由于收集日常生活中的最新词汇很困
