摘要 本论文从认知语义学的角度来探讨中英文习语理解所涉及的认知语义机 制，以l a k o f f ( 1 9 9 3 ) 提出的当代隐喻理论，r a d d e n & k f i v e e s e s ( 1 9 9 9 ) 从认知语言 学角度对转喻所做的研究以及r u i zd em e n d o z a ( 2 0 0 3 ) 提出的隐喻和转喻三种交 互模式为理论基础，深入研究习语的字面语义如何透过这些机制衍生出习语语 义。论文介绍了传统语言学家及认知语言学家对习语做出的研究，通过比较证明 了认知角度研究习语的优越之处。大量收集的习语分析表明，相当大一部分习语 是有理据的，隐喻，转喻和隐转喻都是习语重要的认知机制。 论文对具隐喻理据的习语分析过程中，采用了l a k o f f 对概念隐喻所做的分 类( 包括结构隐喻，方向隐喻和实体隐喻) 。值得注意的是上述三种隐喻并非相 互排斥。文中详细讨论了中英文习语理解过程中的结构隐喻特征，方向隐喻特征 及实体隐喻特征。转喻也是重要的概念机制，为习语提供了语义理据。研究发现 习语的认知语义机制包括了r a d d e n & k 6 v e c s e s 提出的十五种转喻类型，本文着 重讨论了其中部分类型与习语认知理解的联系。隐转喻作为隐喻和转喻交互的产 物在习语理解过程中同样发挥了重要作用。本文分析了隐喻和转喻交互的三种主 要模式，发现其在习语理解过程中都可找到相应的例证。大量研究已证明隐喻常 暗藏着转喻基础，对习语的分析表明转喻的实现有时也需隐喻的激活为先决条 件。 全面理解习语背后的语义理据离不开对文化要素的影响的研究，因此本文 认为对习语语义理据的研究应该兼顾认知和文化角度。认知语言学家大多赞同隐 喻概念( 包含转喻概念，下同)
