文化教学及其对提高 大学生英语口语能力的意义 学科专业：英语语言文学 研究方向：应用语言学 导师：金定元 研究生：吴艳霞 【摘要1 随着中国加入w t o 和现代化进程的加快，中国人与外界的交往日趋频 繁。单靠外语专业培养的专f - j 夕l - 语人才远远不能满足国内外形式飞速发展的需 要。于是，对具有一定专业知识的一般外语人才的社会需求显著上升。换句话说， 社会的发展对非英语专业大学毕业生的英语水平提出了更高的要求。因而，跨文 化交际能力特别是跨文化口语交际能力成为衡量职员的重要指标( 本文的交际能 力主要指的是跨文化口语交际能力或口语能力) 。 令人惋惜的是。与社会的要求相比，现有教学体系培养出来的非英语专业大 学生“口语交际能力十分低下”( 曹霞，2 0 0 3 ) 。实际上，所谓“十分低下”并不是 指大学毕业生什么也不能说，而是不能就工作相关的内容进行正常的交际。从交 际能力的本质来说，交际能力是一种综合素质的体现，不是仅仅能开口说话就说 某人具备了交际能力。目前外语界般认为，交际能力包括“语言能力”即是否形 式上可能，是否符合语法规则；和“语用能力”即在具体的语境中得体地使用语言 的能力。实际上经过多年的学习一般人都具备了语言能力，但大多数人缺乏的是 语用能力。而语用失败是由在跨文化交际中对跨文化知识的不充分了解造成的。 为帮助我国大学生得体、地道地使用英语，本研究从语用能力着手，尝试在 大学英语教学中进行文化教学，采取的主要手段是文化对比。只有把语言教学和 文化教学紧密结合起来才能使学生更深刻地领会语言的特点，避免语用失误，提 高跨文化交际能力。当然，仅向学生传授这些陈述性的知识是不够的，教师还应
