内容摘要 威廉福克纳是西方文坛公认的“现代经典作家”。他的长篇小说八月 之光是最重要。也是争议最多的小说之一。评论界对他的评价长期以来褒贬 不一。不少评论家认为其晦涩难懂，病态恐怖。因此本论文试图挖掘小说中的 哥特艺术肯定该小说的价值。 论文首先简要介绍了福克纳的家庭背景和社会背景。由于南方的庄园制 度、清教文化特别是血腥的奴隶制，南方具有哥特小说发展的肥沃土壤。作为
