摘要 涵义对广告英语影响的语用学研究 蒲松龄 语言对人及其行为施加着重要影响，特别是在市场行销和广告宣传领域。广 告无时无刻不存在丁我们的生活中，广告用语要有效地影响人们的购买行为，就 必须在有限的空间字符内传达更多让人印象深刻的信息，其原因就在于广告的根 本特征的就是劝导性，即耍说服消费者购买其产品。虽然视觉，听觉甚至嗅觉的 内容和设计也起着重要的作用，但是语言才是商家所采用的最有效的说服方式， 因为语言是帮助消费者们识别并真正记住某种商品的最简单，最有效的方式。 但是，在绝大多数情况下，广告语的选择并不是随意的，从语用学角度来看， r 1 告用语的字面意思与其所要传达的真正信息有时是十分冲突的，在这种情况下， 广告商往往是在引导消费者进行信息处理，运用常理，预设等进行推断，从而把 更多的未知和未确定信息变成已知前提，甚至是误导。那么我们是怎样得出，并 应该怎样分析其中隐含的劝导信息呢? 广告又是如何作用于人的思维过程并影响 人的购买行为的呢? 广告既是一种社会现象，又是一种语言现象，社会学者们曾 经运用符号学，语意学以及语言学等等理论来阐释它但是由于广告的基本概念 即关联性即所言之物必与所需相关，这就与g r i c e 的语言学理论( m a x i mo f r e l e v a n c e ) 相关联了即广告宣传要引起消费者的注意力，并作用于其心理过程 就要通过广告语言的设计操纵消费者的关联期待值。基于此点，本文选择了从应 用语言学的角度来解释广告这一社会现象，切入点即应用语言学中的涵义。 本文从应用语言学角度，通过标准涵义中的预设和会话涵义中的故意破坏 g r i c e 的合作原则揭示了广告用语中的隐含劝导信息，分析了这些言外之意是如何 有效地被运用丁市场销售和广告宣传之中的，其实证性主要是来自于两个相关定 性分析：一个是关于预设在广告中出现频率分布状况的定性分析，另一个是有关 的标准涵义和会话涵义在j “告中运用比率的定性分析。这两个定性分析的语料均 运用目的抽样的方式来自于1 2 0 条广告( 8 2 条来自书刊杂志，3 8 条来自互联网) ， 因为目的抽样的方式能够有的放矢地提供更足够的相关信息，并有利于通过细节 的数据分析使读者获得更深入的理解。 数据显示，首先，预设在j “告中的应用相当普遍是广告设计中的重要组成 部分，其作用在丁预设能够引起消费者对某种产品，建议，甚至某种文化规定行 为特点的存在进行思考。另外，触发预设产生的定冠词，指示词，物主代词等在 广告中的大量出现也是预设普遍性的一个原因。 其次。故意破坏合作原则，包括人量的使用隐喻，反讽和幽默等修辞手段在 r + 告中也不 i 少数；这是因为广告商可以更加容易地通过运用这些手段引起消费 者的强烈兴趣和注意从而操纵和影响消费者的心理过程；同时，尽管会话涵义是 当今语言学讨论的热门话题，标准涵义在r 告中的运用也不可忽视，在第二个定 性分析中，至少6 5 条广告涉及标准涵义，2 9 条广告直接单独使用。其原因在于 其一：标准涵义是理想的隐含信息传达方式，这源丁- 它的有效性和简单性；其二： ，“告商可以借此更加容易地推脱承担误导消费者之责。 本文的目的在于，由于广告商不仅要对所言之物的字面意思负责，更要对其 引导消费者正常的进行信息处理，预设等所得出的不确定的隐含信息负责，所以 我们可以做的不仅仅是在r 告这一社会百科全书中学习语言，更重要的是，我们 又多了一个重新认识，理解纷繁复杂的商品社会的角度和选择，即从涵义预 设以及故意破坏合作原则这个角度来理解r 告的言内之意和言外之意。从这一意
