The teacher may give the students about 5 minutes to go through it,ticking the things they are confident that they know, putting a question mark next to those things they are not sure of, and a cross next to those they dont know.Then they may make up for it accordingly.Or you may provide a chance for them to have a consolidation.Step 5 Summary and Homework1.Summary: Summarize what they have learned in this period.2.Homework: Activity8 on P93.Appendix: Notes to the text1.His latest one,from the Malvinas islands,reads Good fishing.read v. 读,阅读;(文章等)内容是(vt.),(书写的东西)写着,写成(vt.);读起来(给人以某种印象)(vi.)e.g:The full text reads as follows: 全文如下 The sign reads No Smoking.标牌上写着“不准吸烟”。 This poem reads like a translation.这首诗读起来像是译文。【say vt.(标示等)提供信息,指示 e.g:The notice said Keep Out.告示上写着“禁止入内”。】2.Useful expressionsin the travel trade在旅游行业(买卖、交易)rip off (vt.)敲竹杠,敲诈(be ripped off)around=about 大约get a kick out of 从中得到乐趣长江三峡 长江三峡西起重庆的奉节县,东至湖北的宜昌市。自西向东主要有三个大的峡谷地段:瞿塘峡、巫峡和西陵峡。三峡因而得名。三峡两岸高山对峙,崖壁陡峭,山峰一般高出江面1000-1500米。最窄处不足百米。三峡是由于这一地区地壳不断上升,长江水强烈下切而形成的。因此水力资源极为丰富。 长江三峡,人杰地灵,它是中国古文化的发源地之一。大峡深谷,曾是三国古战场,是无数英雄豪杰用武之地;这儿有许多名胜古迹:白帝城、黄陵、南津关等。他们同旖旎的山水风光交相辉映,名扬四海。长江三峡是世界大峡谷之一,以壮丽河山的天然胜景闻名中外。 三峡全长193公里(千米),两岸悬崖绝壁,江中滩峡相间,水流湍急,唐代大诗人李白经过这里留下了优美的诗句:“朝辞白帝彩云间,千里江陵一日还;两岸猿声啼不住,轻舟已过万重山。”使白帝城更加出名。 三峡特产:美景、美人、美石,美景有:三峡自然风光、三峡人家、三峡大坝,美人:有王昭君;美石有:景观奇石幻彩红、三峡浪。瞿塘峡长8公里,是三峡中最短的一个峡。我想它应该也是雄伟险峻的一个峡。入口处,两岸断崖壁立,相距不足一百公尺,形如门户,名燮门,也称瞿塘峡关,山岩上有“夔门天下雄”五个大字。左边的名赤甲山,相传古代巴国的赤甲将军曾在此屯营,尖尖的山嘴活像一个大蟠桃,右边的名白盐山,不论天气如何,总是迂出一层层或明或暗的银辉。瞿塘峡虽短,却能“镇全川之水,扼巴鄂咽喉”,有“西控巴渝收万壑,东连荆楚压摹山”的雄伟气势。古人形容瞿塘峡说,“案与天关接,舟从地窟行”。巫峡在重庆巫山和湖北巴东两县境内,西起巫山县城东面的大宁河口,东至巴东县官渡口,绵延四十五公里,包括金蓝银甲峡和铁棺峡,峡谷特别幽深曲折,是长江横切巫山主脉背斜而形成的。巫峡又名大峡,以幽深秀丽著称。整个峡区奇峰突兀,怪石磷峋,峭壁屏列,绵延不断,是三峡中最可观的一段,宛如一条迂回曲折的画廊,充满诗情书意,可以说处处有景,景景相连。清人许汝龙“巫峡”诗中说:“放舟下巫峡,心在十二峰。”这里群峰竞秀,气势峥嵘,云雾缭绕,姿态万千。西陵峡 在湖北宜昌市秭归县境内,西起香溪口,东至南津关,约长66公里,是长江三峡中最长、以滩多水急闻名的山峡。整个峡区由高山峡谷和险滩礁石组成,峡中有峡,大峡套小峡;滩中有滩,大滩含小滩。自西向东依次是兵书宝剑峡、牛肝马肺峡、崆岭峡、灯影峡四个峡区,以及青滩、泄滩、崆岭滩、腰叉河等险滩。兵书宝剑峡在长江北岸,有一叠层次分明的岩石,看似一堆厚书,还有一上粗下尖的石柱,竖直指向江中,酷似一把宝剑,故得名。传说是诸葛亮存放兵书和宝剑的地方。崆岭峡内有崆峪滩,是长江三峡中“险滩之冠”。滩中礁石密布,枯水时露出江面如石林,水涨时则隐没水中成暗礁,加上航道弯曲狭窄,船只要稍微不小心即会触礁沉没,因此人们说,“青滩泄滩不算滩,崆岭才是鬼门关”。灯影峡又名明月峡,河谷狭窄,岸壁陡峭,峰顶奇石腾空,岩间瀑布飞泉。南岸马牙山上,有四块岩石屹立,形似西游记中的唐僧、孙悟空、猪八戒和沙和尚。陈运和长江三峡诗称“瞿塘峡、巫峡、西陵峡 犹如性格相似又各具特征的兄弟般 讲述优美的神话传说,新鲜 指点众多的历史古迹,耐看”。除此之外还有大宁河的“小三峡”和马渡河的“小小三峡”。长江三峡不仅有已经建成的葛洲坝,世界上最大的水电站工程三峡工程。它是世界上规模最大的水电站,也是中国有史以来建设最大型的工程项目。而由它所引发的移民搬迁、环境等诸多问题,使它从开始筹建的那一刻起,便始终与巨大的争议相伴。三峡水电站的功能有十多种,航运、发电、种植等等。三峡水电站1992年获得中国全国人民代表大会批准建设,1994年正式动工兴建,2003年开始蓄水发电,于2009年全部完工。大坝旅游区三峡大坝旅游区是源于1997年正式对外开放,是国家旅游局评定的国家AAAAA级旅游景区,现拥有三峡展览馆、坛子岭园区、185园区、近坝园区及截流纪念园5个园区,总占地面积共15.28平方公里。旅游区以世界上最大的水利枢纽工程三峡工程为依托,全方位展示工程文化和水利文化,为游客提供游览、科教、休闲、娱乐为一体的多功能服务,将现代工程、自然风光和人文景观有机结合,使之成为国内外友人向往的旅游胜地。小三峡 巫山位于长江三峡库区腹心,素有“万峰磅礴一江通,锁钥荆襄气势雄”的地貌景观,和“三峡明珠”、“渝东门户”之称。 出瞿塘峡就进入25公里长的大宁河宽谷,大宁河发源于大巴山区,是三峡地区的一条大支流,大宁河风光幽静秀丽以峰秀、景幽、滩险、石美为特色,人称“小三峡”。 大宁河小三峡是龙门峡、铁棺峡和滴翠峡的同称,龙门峡是“小三峡”的第一个峡谷,长约3公里,峡谷犹如瞿塘峡的“夔门”,故有“小夔门”之称。峡谷内两岸峰峦耸立,绝壁摩天,河东岩壁上有一清泉流入河中,人称“龙门泉”;河西绝壁上可见古栈道遗迹;出了龙门峡,滩险流急,这就是著名的险滩“银窝滩”;过滩即进入铁棺峡,峡长约长10公里,两岸怪石嶙峋,形成一组组天然雕塑,妙趣横生;沿岸可见龙进、虎出、马归山等景点,在河东岸离水面四五米高的绝壁石缝中还有一具黑色悬棺,据考乃战国时期巴人的悬棺,俗称“铁棺材”,峡名也由此而来;继续向前就是小三峡中最长、最迷人的滴翠峡,峡长约20公里,峡中钟乳石遍布,石石滴水,处处苍翠,游峡可以欣赏到“赤壁摩天”、“红屏翠莲”、“关门岩”等奇景。秭归山川优美,人杰地灵,集名人(屈原)、名坝(三峡大坝)、名峡(西陵峡)、名湖(高峡平湖)、名物(“中国脐橙之乡”)于一体,融巴楚文化、屈原文化、峡江文化于一炉,是湖北省首批优秀旅游县,是宜昌市旅游先进县。秭归旅游景点众多,除了举世闻名的西陵峡和三峡大坝以外,有全国最大的文物
