摘要 自然语言可视为一种心理现象。认知语言学家认为，语言能力是认 知能力的一部分，语言的运用同人类的认知活动息息相关。语言使用本 身就是认知能力的体现。修辞语言是自然语言的一种，与直义语言一样， 影响着我们看待客观世界的方式。矛盾修饰法是一种超常搭配的语言形 式。长期以来，作为一种修辞格，以其新颖性、独特性引起了心理学家、 修辞学家、语言学家的关注。但是，迄今的研究主要限于其结构特点、 功能意义以及翻译策略等层面的考察，很少有人从认知层面探究矛盾修 饰法的意义建构和解读过程中人的认知能力所发挥的巨大作用。 本文拟运用心理空间理论和框架转换理论阐释矛盾修饰法的认知意 义构建过程。f 锄c o 姗i e r 的心理空间理论的主旨是探究语言的意义建构过 程。心理空间理论具有两大优势：1 该理论认为词汇的语义结构是动态 的，词汇的歧义问题能以简单、直观的方式加以研究；2 该理论打破传 统的意义建构模式，重视语境的作用，从简单的空间关系入手，由简驭 繁，符合人类认知的规律。然而，心理空间理论也存在一定的不足，该 理论未能深入分析心理空间之间的相互联系，且未能透彻解释系统的运 作机制。而另一方面，c 伽l s o n 的框架转换理论恰恰弥补了这种不足。该 理论认为话语的领会分两阶段：在第一阶段启动常规的、默认的框架； 第二阶段，若新输入的话语信息与第一个框架相冲突时，舍弃第一框架， 启动新框架j 使其与新输入的话语信息进行整合。该理论的优势体现在： 它研究了外部输入信息与记忆信息进行整合的过程。但是该理论也存在 某种不足，它未能很好地解释人们领会话语描绘的新场景、新事物和新 概念的认知能力。笔者认为，这两个理论存在互补性。心理空间理论弥 补了框架转换理论未能重视人的认知能力和语境作用的不足；框架转换 理论弥补了心理空间理论未能涉及到的信息整合过程的不足。因此，笔 者运用以上两个理论对矛盾修饰法进行认知分析，并提出了隐性空间转 换模型，旨在更好地揭示矛盾修饰法的内在矛盾意义建构的过程以及矛 盾消除、和谐形成的心理过程。该阐释模型提出：1 矛盾修饰法的命题 中具有的矛盾性所体现的是显性话语与隐性语境之间的对立性；2 矛盾 修饰法中两个对立的语义成分是相互依赖、相互影响的，缺一不可；3 矛 盾修饰法的理解过程是一个动态的整合过程；4 矛盾修饰法的认知过程 产生两个不同性质的合成空间。两个合成空间分别为互补性空间和替代 性空间。该模型不仅能分析矛盾修饰法的意义建构过程，它对似非而是、 反语、夸张等修辞格的意义建构过程亦具有一定的阐释力。 关键词：矛盾修饰法；认知；语用；心理空间理论；框架转换理论；隐 性空间转换模型 a b s t r a c t n a t u r a ll a n g u a g ec 柚b ec o n s i d e r e
