界观的不同，风俗习惯的差异，宗教信仰的差异，文化价值观的差异，社 会的发展等等。正如陈穗湘指出的，词汇空缺是语言和社会文化因素相互 作用的结果。 通过比较不同国家之间语占和文化的差异，发现这种现象在现实生活 中无处不在，如科技、政治经济、哲学、宗教、传统的医学和运动、文学 和社会生活等等领域。一个个词汇空缺成为跨文化交流的一个个障碍。若 不采取任何策略来填补词汇空缺的话，我们就不能充分了解他国特有的文 化个性，这将会导致了人与人之间沟通与交流的失败。 但是，填补词汇空缺是一件艰难的工作，它是一种多层面的跨文化交 际活动，不仅涉及到两种语言和两种文化，还涉及到跨文化交流和翻译等 众多领域。两种文化之间的共性才使翻译成为可能，两种文化之间的个性 差异给翻译带来了极大的障碍。在词汇空缺的填补过程中，应尽量让读者 以最大程度接受目标语，也就是说，使译文以最大程度对等原文。 近几1 一年来，在学术干u 物上有不少研究成果提到填补词汇空缺的方 法，但比较全面地探讨词汇窄缺的文章很少。 因此，本文首先回顾了国内外不同学者给词汇空缺下的定义以及如何 对词汇空缺进行划分类别，然后探讨词汇窄缺形成的具体原因，最后阐述 各种翻译的定义及翻译的跨文化交际观，并提出一些填补词汇空缺的翻译 策略。
