山东大学硕卜学位论文 摘要 作为世界上最具影响力的文学大师之一，威廉福克纳在世界文学界树立起 了一座丰碑。因其杰出的文学创作力，福克纳先后获得了两次普利策小说奖，两 次全国图书奖以及1 9 4 9 年诺贝尔文学奖，在全世界赢得了声望和尊重。 福克纳一生共创作出1 9 部长篇小说，其中有1 5 部都是关于那片他所熟悉和 眷念的南方土地。押沙龙，押沙龙! 是福克纳的第九部长篇小说。自从1 9 3 6 年发表以来，这部小说便引起了国内外评论家和读者的热烈讨论。在美国，现有 的对这部小说的评论文章几乎涵盖了它的各个方面，例如：人物、主题、叙事技 巧以及神话原型等等。近年来，更多的学者对这部作品的研究集中在其后现代特 点以及对后现代南方小说家的影响方面。在中国，有关这部作品的大部分探讨也 都集中在对小说的叙事技巧、圣经神话原型以及福克纳与余华、莫言等国内作家 的比较研究上。 虽然目前国内外对这部作品的研究有很多，但是在这些研究中，有一个视点 尚未引起重视，而它对于解读押沙龙，押沙龙! 却具有至关重要的意义和价 值，有必要展开深入的、系统的探讨，那就是作品中以不同形式出现的“闯入者 形象。在小说的展开过程中，不难发现其中有多个人物形象都经历了从一种社会 定位到另一种社会定位的转变。而这种社会定位的转变深受南方社会、价值观以 及意识形态的影响，故而对理解美国南方内战前后新旧体制下的整个南方社会及 其变迁具有重要的意义。因此，本论文以“闯入者”这一概念为切入点来对这部 作品进行探讨，以此来审视社会变迁下南方人在美国内战前后两种社会体系下的 价值体系和意识形态发生的转变。本论文主体部分分为四章，分别对小说中的四 个人物进行分析：托马斯萨德本、查尔斯邦、昆丁康普生以及罗莎柯德 菲尔德。 第一章从托马斯萨德本对战前南方社会的闯入分析开始。本章将对战前南 方社会的阶级以及南方区域意识进行探讨。这一章首先探析萨德本在随家迁移的 过程中发生的内心变化。社会中明显的等级差异使他从天真无知中醒悟过来，抛 山东大学硕_ 1 学1 移论文 弃了自己的人性和情感。在随后对南方社会的闯入中，萨德本凭借其毅力和勤奋 在本不属于自己的南方世界里建造了自己的王国。萨德本对战前南方社会的闯入 代表的是美国内战前外来族群和力量对南方传统秩序的进犯。他们的到来挑战了 以南方贵族为中心的南方上层社会的权威，宣告了以穷白人为代表的新兴阶级在 以传统农业为根基的旧南方的确立。这种闯入体现出的是战前南方社会中内外两 种力量的抗衡：以萨德本为代表的外来力量同以南方为中心的传统力量的对抗和 较量。在这种较量中，一方面外来力量逐渐得到内化，转化成南方内部力量的一 部分；另一方面它又从本质上对南方的内部力量进行分解，打破了旧南方固有的 阶级格局和传统秩序。 第二章是对战前美国南方的种族问题进行分析。这一章通过十九世纪初的 “一滴血原则来追溯查尔斯邦身份困惑的原因。作为一位混血儿，查尔斯邦 从被社会定位的黑人身份闯入到了白人的世界，并努力去获得白人父亲对自我存 在的肯定。但是旧南方的种族问题和由此引发的不可改变的阶级差异最终将他驱 逐出白人的世界，也将他永远地定位在他者的身份中。种族问题是南方庄园制经 济发展中的关键问题。它的存在将南方社会定格在黑白二元种族格局之下，而混 血儿身上的黑人血液则将其牢牢地禁锢在黑人的身份中。因此，以查尔斯邦为 代表的南方有色人种对白人社会的闯入从根本上体现的是黑人群体对白人群体 的进逼以试图获得白人社会的承认，并以此作为唯一的身份认同方式和自身价值 的实现途径。同时，这种闯入也折射出旧南方社会中白人和黑人之间不可调和的 种族矛盾关系。 第三章从昆丁康普生对萨德本这一家族故事的闯入来探讨战后年轻一代人 内心的矛盾和冲突。从喧哗与骚动闯入到押沙龙，押沙龙! ，从讲述别人 的故事闯入到自己的内心世界，昆丁康普生实际上是在重新走进自己的内心， 在讲述自己所代表的南方新一代的失落和迷茫。在萨德本的两个儿子亨利萨德 本和查尔斯邦以及哈佛舍友史立夫身上，昆丁看到的是一个分裂的自我：一个 沉湎在旧南方的幻影和荣誉中的自己，一个生活在战后新南方现实中的自己。这 种分裂来自于南方新旧两种社会秩序的转换和颠覆所产生的矛盾。在新与旧、传 统与变革的闯入过程中，以昆丁为代表的南方后代在过去和现在之间穿梭，在自 我和幻影之间游荡，体现出美国内战后的较长一段时间内南方社会以贵族阶级为 i ij 东人学硕l ：学化论文 上闪现出的人性的光芒让她找回了失去的自我，摆脱了旧南方的种族偏见和桎 梏，获得了心灵的满足。罗莎对战后南方社会的闯入是整个南方社会历史变革时 期南方人的缩影，体现了旧世俗对南方人人性的压抑和束缚；然而，另一方面， 她对克莱蒂的认可也体现出南方人试图走出过去的阴影，象征着白人和黑人之间 建立一种新的、平等的关系的可能性，这也为战后建立以平等自由为基础的新的 南方社会带来了一丝希望的曙光。 押沙龙，押沙龙! 里，福克纳选择了一系列能够代表南方社会不同发展 阶段的人物形象来展现美国南方的兴衰变迁。这些以不同形式出现的闯入者形象 从根本上来说是整个南方社会内战前后南方人的缩影。他们在阶级、种族、心理 以及意识形态等方面的闯入和由此造成的改变揭示的是美国南方社会新与旧、白 人与黑人、富人与穷人以及梦想与现实之间的碰撞、转换与融合。这些转换或融 合本质上反映出的是南方社会内战前后不同阶段南方人的社会、价值观以及意识 形态的变迁。战前南方人奉行的传统南方意识和价值体系深深地渗入到每个南方 人的内心，成为他们生活和行为准则的一个部分；然而，内战的爆发连同南方的 失败使得昔日南方的道德体系和价值体系无法应对战后新的社会发展的要求。曾7 经辉煌的南方文化、传统以及完整的意识形态变得支离破碎，成为战后年轻人的 历史负担。 押沙龙，押沙龙!
