摘要 翻译是个充满悖论的领域。在众多的悖论中，可译与不可译是 一对古老的二律背反命题。语言是否可译一直是理论界探讨的热点之 一，持不同观点的两派也一直存在着很大的分歧。是否可译，或是在 多大程度上可译? 可译性限度也由此而产生。 作为可译论的支持者，我们认为：翻译是可行的，但在语际转换 中确实存在着可译性限度。这一限度根植于语言和民族文化差异以及 在翻译中必然产生的矛盾和困难之中。 可译性限度问题在汉英互译中一直倍受关注，原因在于，汉语和 英语属于不同的语系( 前者属于汉藏语系，而后者属于印欧语系) 。 习惯用法是一门语言非常重要的组成部分，它深深植根于民族文化和 社会中，因而可译性限度在汉英习惯用法的互译中就表现得尤为显 著。所以，本文从汉英习惯用法的互译角度出发，主要分析了汉英 习惯用法的差异对汉英互译造成的影响以及翻译过程中所面临的困 难。并且，文章还提出了降低可译性限度的几种途径。 本文的论证结构如下： 第一章首先通过比较的方法分别介绍可译论和不可译论的观点 和理论依据，并探讨了可译性与不可译性二者的关系。然后，提出可 译性限度这一观点。在对可译性限度的历史进行一番回顾之后，我们 分析了造成可译性限度的原因以及语际转换中所面临的障碍。 第二章讨论并阐述了习惯用法的定义、特点以及内容，并探讨了 汉英互译中习惯用法造成可译性障碍的内在原因。 第三章是本文的核心部分，讨论了习惯用法可能造成可译性限度 的五个方面，即：词语搭配，习语，正说与反说，主动与被动，句子 重心与层次。通过对比的方法，本章用大量汉英互译的实例，旨在体 现汉英互译中习惯用法造成的主要可译性障碍。 第四章探讨并提出了降低可译性限度的几种途径。 关键词：不可译性；可译性；可译性限度；英语习惯用法；汉语习惯 用法 i i a b
