翻译中的文化失衡魏藏锋摘要传统翻译理论一直假定翻译是两种语言之间的平等对话，是客观的、价值中立的，因此最理想的目标是忠于原文，双语转换时不遭受任何损失并达到等值。但是其对历史上许多翻译现象的有限的解释力促使人们从更广阔的角度文化视角对翻译加以审视。翻译不仅是语言之间的转换，更是文化价值的创造性再现，在再现他者的同时映现自我。然而这种再现不是客观的，是建立在一定的文化预设基础之上的，一种文化在另种文化里的地位和形象、译者对两种文化的态度与翻译目的等等这些因素都制约着翻译中文化的再现。因此从文化视角研究翻译能发现许多纯语言取向所忽视的现象。f 文化交流虽然可以促进文化的融合，缩小不同文化的差异，为翻译带来便利，但其最终结局却未必皆大欢喜。在任何形式的文化交流中，不同文化的参与都不是平等的。东西方政治经济的不平等必然导致文化之间的权力差异，使得强势文化在这一交流过程中逐渐取得优势，而弱势文化则往往有失去自身特色、被人同化的危险。因此，( 文学) 翻译所牵涉的两种文化始终都是失衡的，并对在这一过程中处于劣势的弱势文化的发展，产生深远的影响。因此，从文化的视角研究翻译，一定要注意文化之间的不平等现状，寻求在翻译中保存弱势文化特色的途径。惟有如此，弱势文化才有可能避免被人同化的危险，翻译也才能健康的发展下去，实现多元文化并存的世界图景。y 少本文第一章介绍作者选择这一主题的动机及本文大致框架；第二章简略回顾了国内外学者对文化失衡这一现象的研究进程，指出进一步研究的必要性；第三章作者对文化失衡这一现象从文本选择，和翻译策略的运用两个方面加以论证：第四章通过霍译红楼梦个案研究，进一步论述了文化失衡对翻译的影响。在对这一译本的分析中，作者从文化意像的错位和风格变异两方面，论述了译者在翻译过程中有意或者无意地表现了一种种族中心主义的霸权文化心态，译者仅从目标文化出发，置源语文化的实际于不顾，一味迎合目标语读者的接受方便，以至用目标文化的价值观强行归化源语文化；第五章分析了如何从文化失衡走向文化对话。许多学者已意识到只有发展本民族的文化才能改变这一文化不平衡的事实，因此提出了相应的对策以改变b
