摘要 经典叙事学意味着客观与抽象，具有精确性、符号性和技术性。女性主义意味着主 体经验与政治参与，具有概括性、模仿性和政治性。2 0 世纪9 0 年代以来，随着叙事理 论研究的复兴，开始注重读者和社会历史语境的作用，认为应当把小说的形式审美研究 和小说的社会历史语境结合。女性主义叙事学是在分析叙事形式时，把性别因素考虑在 内，从而女性主义理论构成叙事学理论的一个因素，丰富了叙述学理论。作为跨学科派 别，女性主义叙事学将叙事形式分析与性别政治分析融为一体。 本论文正是立足于近几年对爱略特小说研究的最新成果，从叙事话语策略中解读爱 略特的女性观。乔治爱略特是英国十九世纪维多利亚时期杰出的女作家之一。在文学 批评领域的研究主要集中在叙事结构和写作手法、原型批评、心理现实主义、女性主义、 宗教观和道德观等研究方面。但目前，国内外对爱略特从女性主义叙事学角度结合具体 文本分析的研究评论处于萌芽阶段，爱略特作为中产阶级女作家的女性意识和她的写作 手法之间的关系等角度探讨不够充分。本论文从这一角度深入发掘，对乔治爱略特的 三部作品即前期的亚当彼德 ( 1 8 5 8 ) 、弗洛斯河磨坊( 1 8 6 0 ) 和后期的米德马 尔契( 1 8 7 卜1 8 7 2 ) 中叙述话语进行分析进而从叙事话语策略中解读爱略特的女性意识， 来分析女性人物的悲剧潜质。 乔治爱略特是女权主义批评中颁有争议的人物。她在男权文化主宰中脱颖而出， 享有赫赫声名的成功女作家，在追求幸福婚姻的过程中体现了离经叛道的女性自主意 识。然而她的小说却没有言说这种激进的女性意识和奋斗精神。爱略特的女性主义观点， 同她本人一样，是十分矛盾的。一方面她的小说在故事层次上言说着女性理想的觉醒与 幻灭，颠覆着男权文化规定的边缘地位的无望与呐喊，批判着回归女性边缘位置的尴尬 的生存现实，抒发着服从父权统治的无奈。另一方面，她不主张男女地位的绝对平等， 而是强调女性在婚姻中做出自我牺牲来成就男性的抱负，将女性定义为男性的辅助。爱 略特的女性身份和反叛经历以及在作品中对女性人物的低调处理折射出其矛盾的女性 观。不仅在故事层次，爱略特在追寻叙事权威过程中采用叙事话语策略的迂回道路也揭 示了她的矛盾的女性观。 本论文在叙事学分析中引入主题分析的方法，挖掘出爱略特小说中在塑造女性人物 形象时使用了同一的叙事模式，揭示了女性人物的悲剧潜质。同时探讨了小说中运用自 由间接话语来刻画人物内心世界、同读者直接交流和作者介入这三项相同的叙事策略。 又通过文本细读的方法，研究了爱略特前期和后期小说中叙事话语的细微变化即从“外 露的作者性”过渡到间接性叙述；叙述者性别立场的转换；后期小说中卷首引语的使用。 并分析了其叙述话语的美学效果及其深刻的社会、历史原因，从而解读出爱略特如何建 立女性叙事权威和文本的女性主义政治话语。乔治爱略特的迂回曲折的叙述话语策略 反映了爱略特矛盾的女性观，揭示了在维多利亚男权文化社会中，中产阶级女作家爱略 特在建立叙事权威中“走”了很多弯路。可见，在男权文化氛围浓厚的社会中，女作家 在写作中建立女性叙事权威话语时不得不面对的重重艰辛。
