摘要 弗兰纳里奥康纳是战后美国最独树一帜的作家之一。智血 是她的第一部小说。本文旨在运用弗莱的原型移位理论，对现代虚无 世界中的精神追寻进行阐释。 本文首先研究了作品中的两位人物以诺和亚撒对相应圣经 人物原型的移位，并参照奥康纳本人对现代世界精神实质的认识，从 而对智血的宗教文化背景进行了揭示。奥康纳对现代世界的认识 无疑继承了尼采所宣称的“上帝已死 的衣钵。 同时，作为虔诚的天主教徒，奥康纳认为自己有责任为人们指出 一条精神探索之路从而唤醒人们，使他们走出虚无的深渊，重拾信仰， 复归永恒的真理。小说主人公黑兹尔，便是这个虚无世界中一个孤独 的追寻者。与这个虚无世界中的其他人不同，形形色色的宗教替代品 决不能使黑兹尔的精神世界得到满足。尽管他曾一度宣扬要建立一个 “没有救世主的基督教”，在他的灵魂深处，从没有背离过真正的信 仰。他揭示了人类在这个虚无世界中无家可归的本质，体现出人类必 须为自己寻找一个“地方的需求，而他的一生正是在自己的灵魂深 处寻找这样一个地方一个精神家园。从曾经的试图逃离救世主到 最后的回归真理，黑兹尔寻找精神家园的过程与文学作品中常见的 “追寻 原型不谋而合，因此本文通过对“追寻”原型移位的研究分 析和阐释了黑兹尔对精神家园不懈追寻的过程与意义。 此外，黑兹尔的双眼一直是小说中人物关注的焦点，而他最后即 是通过自己刺瞎双眼的方式回归了永恒的精神家园。在黑暗中，黑兹 尔脱离了这个虚无的世界，真正实现了在心灵中与上帝的“交流。因 此本文通过研究小说对俄狄浦斯刺瞎双眼的原型的移位来揭示黑兹 尔刺瞎双眼行为背后的现实意义。 通过黑兹尔，奥康纳为所有同样经受虚无的精神痛苦折磨的现代 人，指出了一条得到救赎的道路于灵魂中的追寻。
