摘要 韩礼德和哈桑的衔接理论( 1 9 7 6 ) 是本文的理论基础，被应用于 英汉翻译研究中。根据韩礼德和哈桑的划分，衔接手段可分为语法衔 接，即照应、省略、替代、连接，和词汇衔接。当代语言学是韩礼德 和哈桑衔接理论的一个重要发展。语篇语言学给翻译研究和实践提供 了新的视角和新的指导。 语篇指一个任何长度的、语义完整的口语或书面语的段落，其本 质是连贯，是通过各种各样的衔接手段来实现的。翻译的目标就是再 现原文的衔接和连贯，这是对“忠实”“信之翻译原则的发展和具 体化。在大多数情况下，翻译中译文保持与原文同样之连贯和衔接， 既是形式上也是风格上实现了对原文之“忠实”。在某些情况下，由 于原文和译文的语言文化差异，译文不得不变更衔接手段，即便如此， 这也是在一定程度上对原文的“忠实。 “忠实”于原文的关键是衔接，而衔接手段是多种多样的，不同 的分类方式可分为不同的衔接手段，如：隐性和显性之衔接手段，语 法和词汇手段等等，限于篇幅本文仅讨论语法和词汇手段的翻译。 由于中西文化差异及两种语言本身之差别，连贯和衔接手段也各 有不同。本文通过大量例证，比较了中英文语法和词汇衔接手段之异 同。作者认为翻译应该尽量复现原文的连贯和衔接，相同之处可直译， 有差异之处可稍加变通和转化。
