I can proudly say that last year I broke the record for the oldest person in the world to ride a roller coaster. Im 105, but I feel younger. Even the doctor agrees Im in good condition. Im a bit deaf and my legs feel weak, but they are the only issues.I rode the Twistosaurus at Flamingo Land, which spins you round quite fast. I didnt choose to go on that. Id have preferred a really fast one that went upside down. But I was told I couldnt ride something like that, because my blood pressure could drop and I might have some danger.I wasnt nervous I dont get frightened of anything. I was securely fastened, so I knew I wouldnt fall out. The roller coaster ride went on for three or four minutes, and it couldnt be a better experience. And I raised a lot of money for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance Fund, which was fantastic.People were saying Id got a place in the Guinness World Records. Later, someone came to present me with the certificate. I had it on the wall in my living room, with another one that I had gotten a year earlier. My recordbreaking ways really began a couple of years ago, with the Ice Bucket Challenge. It turned out that I was probably the oldest person in the world to do it, and the video was very popular. After that, I started to think about what else I could do to raise money for different charities.Im not sure if anyone admires all the fun Im having. They just say Im daft and thats about it. But Ive had many good days and many exciting times. Ive had a really good life, I dont think Ive wasted any of it. 1Why didnt the author choose to go on the Twistosaurus?AHe was in a bad physical condition.BHe was told not to do so.CHe considered it too gentle.DHe thought it spun too fast. 据文章第二段中的“I rode the Twistosaurus at Flamingo Land, which spins you round quite fast. The Lego Group launches a “Do not disturb playtime” campaign. 21 days is what it takes on average to break a habit, so for 21 days the Lego team will not post on social media during “todder playtime”, defined as 5 am. 8 pm.With social media being an integrated part and creative inspiration to modern family life, it is no surprise that researchers call our digital behavior as a concerning obstacle to quality playtime.“While we are hooked_on our cellphones, we should think about turning them off when interacting with our young children. Kids learn so much from us and we dont want to get in the way of that. Take language learning for example. When nurturing caregivers talk to their children about what they are interested in, it helps them learn new words and new ways to express themselves. Our research shows that the use of cellphones in a conversation between parents and children disturbs childrens word learning,” advises Roberta Golinkoff, Ph.D., Professor at the University of Delaware. Our research shows that parents today understand their significant roles in insuring their kids grow up to be happy, wellrounded, and equipped for the future. At the same time, many worry about not spending enough time with their toddlers. Lego wants to inspire parents to make the small moments memorable.“We know parents today feel more timestarved than ever before. Many feel guilty about not spending enough time with their little ones. Through the Do not disturb playtime campaign we hope to reassure parents that its not so much the amount of time they spend with their kids, but the small meaningful moments they create during play,” said Steffen Jensen, LEGO Croup Senior Marketing Director.体裁:说明文题材:文化教育主题:家长陪孩子玩耍时应专注【语篇解读】本文通过乐高公司的一项活动,引发人们的思考:与孩子互动时,父母应该关掉手机,专注于陪伴孩子玩耍与成长。5Which of the following words can replace the underlined phrase “hooked on” in Paragraph 3?AAddicted to. The name of the “bead chef” is Andrew. Using his two long arms, he stirs batter (面糊) in a metal bowl, then pours it onto a hot grill. In a nearby hotel, robots check guests into their rooms and help with their luggage.CEO Hideo Sawada, who runs the restaurant and the hotel, predicted that 70% of the jobs at Japans hotels would be automated (自动化) in the next five years. He said, “Since you can work them 24 hours a day, and they dont need vacation, eventually its more costeffective to use the robot.”This_is_seemingly_worrying. In fact, in America, one of the few bright spots in recent years has been employment in restaurants and hotels. In the company Panera, because of its new kiosks, an app that allows customers to place orders online, the chain is now processing more orders overall, which means it needs more total workers to meet consumers demand. Customers who use Starbucks app return more frequently than those who dont. Starbucks employed 8 percent more people in the US. in 2016 than it did in 2015, the year it launched the app.Of course, whether automation is a net benefit for workers in restaurants and hotels and not just a competitive advantage for one chain over another will depend on whether an improved customer experience makes Americans more likely to dine out and stay at hotels, rather than brownbagging it or looking for the Airbnb to book unique homes.体裁:议论文题材:科普知识主题:自动化对餐饮业和旅店业就业市场的影响【语篇解读】文章通过描述机器人在餐厅和旅馆进行工作的场景以及应用软件的使用,引发了自动化对餐饮业和旅店业就业市场的讨论。9Why does the writer describe the unusual sight in Paragraph 1?ATo promote robots.
