授课教师:高彦平 授课班级:高一(224)班 授课时间2015年10月11日Unit 4 EarthquakeA night the earth didnt sleep (Reading)课题Unit 4 EarthquakeA night the earth didnt sleep (Reading)教材分析普通高中新课程标准实验教科书英语必修一涵盖了友谊、世界英语、旅游日志、地震和纳尔逊曼德拉一位现代英雄,而Earthquake是本册书第4个单元,本单元以“地震”为中心话题,通过单元教学让学生了解地震给人们造成的伤害和损失,引导学生关注地震,促使学生养成善于观察的习惯和地震时自我保护的意识。本节课是该单元的第二课时Reading 部分,要处理A night the earth didnt sleep和Comprehending 部分。讲述1976唐山大地震前发生奇怪的现象,地震给人们带来的伤害和损失,以及震后的援救工作等,让学生理解善于观察地震前兆及震中自我保护的重要性。教学目标 Teaching goals:Knowledge aims:1. Ss will be able to master the following useful new words and expressions.well,smelly, burst,injure, shock, quake,electricity, bury, at an end, dig out, in ruins2. Ss will be able to know the basic knowledge about EarthquakeAbility aims:Develop Ss reading ability.Emotional aims:1. Ss will be able to know what damages earthquake bring about and the ways to reduce losses of an earthquake.2. Show a short video of Tangshan earthquake and some pictures Step1. Enjoy part of film of earthquake and some pictures to know what diaster an earthquake would cause.The buildings fall down; roads might crack; many people are killed or injured; the city lies in ruins以 唐山大地震影片中地震的瞬间片段导入,让学生感受地震的破坏力,充分激发学生对课文的求知欲并调动了学生学习兴趣;之后用图片展示地震给我们带来的损失,并学习有关生词,降低学习难度。Step2. Rre-reading (3 min)Use PPt to show some picturesStep2.Look at the pictures on the screen and discuss what will happen before an earthquake The water in the wells rises and falls. And some deep cracks can be seen in the well walls. A smelly gas comes out the cracks. Mice run out of the fields looking for places to hide.Fish jump out of bows and ponds.Pigs and even cows are too nervous to eat.The dog is barking loudly again and again. Chickens are flying.People can see bright lights in the sky让学生仔细观察大屏幕上的图片,说出地震的前兆,这样就更容易让学生习得知识,同时也很自然地过渡到了文章。Step3 Fast-reading (10min)Lets look at the text to find the main idea of each part.Step3.Read the passage quickly to get the general idea of the passage.Main idea of each part:Part 1 (para.1):Strange things were happening before the earthquake.Part 2 (paras.2-3):The disaster happened and caused a lot of loss.Part 3 (para.4): All hope was not lost2. At 3:42 am, the greatest earthquake of the 20th century began.2. Steam burst from holes in the ground.3. Hard hills of the rock became rivers of dirt.4. Bricks covered the ground like red autumn leaves.5. Two dams and most of the bridges fell.6. The railway tracks were now useless pieces of steel.7. Sand now filled the wells instead of water.8.
